Finally my Campaign restoration continues..

The drivers seat had a slight tear in the bolster... nothing major but I have a spare passenger seat so the black cloth is being used and the firmer cushions. I also am going to have all the centre material turned over to show the unfaded sides...Theres a lot to do with VDO senders and stereo wiring etc. The insides of the sills are to be waxoyled and new cv boots and an MOT too...

I didn't think you could turn over the centre stripe material as pattern on back not the same?? :dontknow:

I did it on old check cloth from a 79 Gti so am guessing…    well see what drivers seat comes like before doing the others….

The old series 1 Gti check does reverse, I know others who have done it but fairly certain the series 2 gti stripe fabric will not. Let us know how you get on with this.

I'm hoping that Newton Commercial will be doing this material/seat covers before too long :dontknow: I know it was being looked in to and the white stripe would be the most common so would be first on the list I guess

in all honesty I cant remember either… it may just get vax'ed if not

Looks good mate, its very similar to BMW Estoril Blue. Is its a VW colour?

No its a mixture of 7 or 8 blue mets, Its an even base coat which when the helios blue is applied will make sure its an even finish. The inside of the doors and interior as well as the under bonnet is the finished colour.

All this talk of Blue gives me an idea, i was planing on Porsche Polar Silver for my next project but may well go for BMW Estoril Blue

    3litres of laquer too.. Its going to be mopped on wednesday and generally looked over with the bumper channels getting black waxed and then the new exterior trim is being fitted…. You know spoilers and neons and such…NOT

I certainly am, Its got to be mopped and I need to get the graphics put on as weell as the door handles etc but its coming on well
