Where is the closest Mk1 to you?

Postcode check

This may well have been done before (at least once) in which case mods, please delete and spare my embarrassment, but….

Since buying my GTi a few years back I’ve seen (i think) only 1 Gti in use and on the road (in my local area that is, not including visits to shows etc). I’ve met a few GTi owners whilst swapping/buying/selling parts, and obviously they’ve all been excellent human beings, but its not the same as unexpectedly seeing a Mk1 drive by…

So, UK guys, where are you all? Who is closest to me with a running (or garaged) GTi/Mk1? I’m at SM7, Banstead. Kettle is always ready….

(disclaimer: in no way am i starting this thread so that i can find someone local to finish wiring my engine bay, but….)

Hi,

I'm nearby, Guiseley. LS20
89 Mk1 Gti Cab.

Just got it and sorting a few things out, should be on the road in a couple of weeks.  Fingers crossed.

It's been sat for a few years. But is in mint condition really.  Waiting on a new distributor as the hall sensor was playing up and casuing it to cut out.

Cheers
Jake

I'd be up for this, may give me the kick I need to get the water pump finally done instead of letting it drip all over the garage floor!
