Folks,
With the nights drawing in and it being dark by 8pm in September I propose that we do a weekend event.
We did this drive out in 2013 and it seemed to be a great success, no one got lost, no one broke down and we made it home safely!!
Last time there was a cafe half way round but that burnt down a few years back now. Not to be put off, we'll have to take butties (there may be a butty van up there but best not to rely on that).
I propose that we meet at B & Q, just off junction 29 of the M6 at 10am Sunday morning 3rd October 2021, rain or shine!!
From there we'll set off M6 north to Carlisle and follow the route in the directions provided on the morning of the drive.
We'll stop where the cafe used to be at the top of Hartside for food and then continue to Hadrian's Wall and Vindolanda, the Roman museum.

Members can choose whether to go in the museum or not but it's pretty good!!
Continue round the route and back south on the M6.
This is the link to the last event…

Please put 2 of us on the list for this. I well remember the last one but can't believe it was 8 years ago. It was a really great day.
Just had a look at Hartside on Facebook and saw the new cafe; shame it's an artist's impression of the planned new one!
It's the view that you go for and if anyone's never driven up that way before, well you're in for a treat
Cheers

We might look a bit frivolous if we go on a drive out when folk are struggling to get fuel to travel to work!!

Hi all, I agree with Dano. Also we're currently having to travel a long way to get fuel and we don't want to be thinking that there's none where we're heading to get back home. For me it's a 300+ miles round trip so not do able on a tank. Hopefully this fuel shortage issue should improve in a week.
Noted that you can make the 10th 😊
I know that Jetta and SciroccoSi can make the 10th too.
Can I have other peoples' views ASAP?
Also, if we go on the 10th October can anyone else make it as well???

Fully understand the points made in the last few posts. All I can say is that if it goes ahead on the 3rd we'll be there but can't make any other dates.
Cheers
That's a shame

Ok. I think the best option is to postpone until the 10th October 2021 and reassess towards the end of next week.

Can't make this date i'm afraid as I'm doing an airport run slap bang in the middle of the day!

Hope it's a good one guys look forward to seeing the pics
