Will get a polish up eventually but the cabby dash is starting to look good in the caddy. Much better than the bland original parts

I'd buy a chrome pen and make your gti badge silver to match the rest of the front, and add white indicator lenses with orange bulbs!

Well done on all the work!

Well I have done everything possible I could do with this it’s now off to a garage to do the final finishing touches and to be motd. Been a rollercoaster of a project but could easily do it all again

Unfortunately it’s been almost a year since I last did anything on the caddy tbh I nearly put it up for sale as with work and home life I just never had the chance to do anything with it.

However the garage where I get all my work done on my daily and all my MOTs done have kindly said I have free run of the place at weekends and evenings including all their own tools and ramps.

So today went down there gave her a quick look over and fitted a new water pump and a full set of silicone hoses. It’s not much but it’s a start hopefully will be done by spring as would love to drive her.

I have also been given a omp deep dish steering wheel to try then buy

Last year I had these made for me by retro retrims still yet to fit but will be one of the last things I do to stop them getting damp and mouldy

Got the cambelt, drivers engine mount and front suspension done in 5 hours this morning. Not bad considering all the rusted bolts

Lol that hammer got used far too much lol. Yea will give you a text mate.

I’m pleased that I’m getting on with it again I had truly lost all love for it a year ago and nearly sold it but glad I didn’t

Good going  in five hours coming along nicely . Hard to get motivated  sometimes with the  cold and the shorter hours of daylight but that's big chunk of work outa  the way 👍🏻

IMG_5637.jpeg Wow it's now nearly November 2024. A year and half since I even looked at the caddy. Popped down today and fitted my steering wheel. The guys who own the place where it's stored now want it gone (not paid for any storage so can't complain) so it's going into the workshop on the 12th November to see how much can be done

Finally got the engine running now it moves under its own steam for the first time since 2010. Just need to sort the from brake nipples as they are siezed so I can bleed the brakes but it may actually be on the road by new year

Today I started prepping the replacement drivers door after the storm few years back damaged the original. I'm a paint sprayer for a kitchen company and my boss has said as we are quiet running up to Christmas I can use the spray booth to paint it

Trying to get the filler to match the trim indent took a while but I'm happy with it

Great finish 👍What's the paint code? Looks a great colour . Question for u is there a significant difference painting kitchen stuff😁Compared to car panels? I've painted both but I usually get 2k paint mixed for cabinet doors etc I'm just used to the 2k paint. . Timber is painted with acrylic? Great work by the way

Paint code is LK4Z brombeer. Wanted something a little different. I plan on redoing the whole car when we get better weather. I have found it is totally different I spay the kitchen stuff with a 50-50 stroke patten but the car stuff I find better with a 70-30 strokes and slightly further away. It's the lacquer I still need to master got a slight run at the top as need to move quicker. At work we use 2k polyurethane paint
