Love the wheels and the splitter. I have a front splitter that is half way between CL and gti in size. Drop me a message if you'd like one.
Those suspension caps are awesome too, me likey muchly!
Such a great colour too.

The Golf is all back together and goes really well. So time to swap in another gearbox and a stroked 1.6 AFH… getting started.

Back to the dyno one last time with the original 1.4. I had a bit of a miss up high so we didn't do an "all-in" full pull to 7700rpm. It did make more power sooner with the Weber 45s versus the 40s. Previously, with the 40s it made 142bhp @ 7300 rpm. With the 45s it made 150bhp @ 6820 rpm. There's a bit more left in it since it easily spins hard to 7700 but it wasn't worth walking home. Now that I've run it, this motor will come out and I'll put the 1.6 stroker in. The 1.6 had the stock 1.4 top end and a mix of VW 1.6 8V and 16V bottom end. If it runs good, I have a refreshed top end with Schrick cams and valve springs that's ready to go.
There's a video of this run on my youtube channel…

The world being what it is keeps me busy at work so no new motor install yet.

This hybrid has a standard AFH block and cams and head. The crank is from an AEE, which is a drop in for chain driven oil pump motors. It accepts all the standard AFH pulleys and hardware without modification. The rods are BCB, rod bearings are 1.9 TDI tri-metal, rod bolts are also from a diesel. Pistons are BUD, 2005ish Golf 1.6, same 17mm pins but 60 grams lighter per piston. Flywheel is from Epytec, lighter but not the lightest they offer. Everything else is stock AFH. Pistons are the same compression height, valve relief is cut shallower, a touch less dish as well. They don't come up flush to the deck like the original AFH pistons about 0.7-1mm lower in the block. I'm a bit nervous if the high lift Schrick cams, 10.5mm versus 8.5, would work with these. I've also backed my redline down to 7k, from 7700, since piston speed is a lot higher. I had to back the timing down a few degrees, because is was startings to knock, presumably from the compression ratio jump. The jetting changes for the Webers was minor, a bit thinner emulsion tunes and bigger pump jets because it revs quick and is thirsty…

I still have the 1.6 stroker motor installed for the time being. Had to replace the fuel hard lines with 8mm versions, coil on plug coversion, Jenvey heritage throttle bodies, Haltech Elite 1500 ECU, wideband controller, PD-16, IC7 dash, FITech surge tank, a self made wiring harness…and a lot more. Should be trying for a first start in a couple days.
