Well not actually on my car. But from my secret parts …I removed door locks..showed wife how to as well..remove winder and adjuster. Remove door cards.  Got the Mrs to carry the doors to my bmw so I could sell them. Was two rivage doors with glass.. she calls herself mighty mouse..

Well today started good on cabriolet today.  Was going get down to bottom of running fault no matter what
Anyway got the k-jet system set up running well.  
Then silly timing issue started again popping threw exhaust
So had enough ordered a dizzy with vacuum advance and retard unit on
Going remove brake res bottle and bought bottle and pipe work which drop in from Audi A2  hope all my troubles will be gone

75 degrees sunny, Top down, Tunes up, Driving it like I stole it, and getting 75 Smiles per Gallon…….

Gave the cabby a quick wash and ended up doing my daily, the mrs xc90 and then the stepdaughters first car turned up. That had been washed but some idiot used an oily rag so another car washed.  
On the plus side my gear knob turned up today so that cheered me up lol

An option to take the CC out yesterday after work to pick my son up.. no not a Christmas Cab the sun was trying to come through.. getting loads of looks in it my son was happy when he seen me in it, he said it was going well & felt smooth.. cheers son Today the elements are having their say, so a bit of housework as his footie is called off too. Waterlogged pitch.  Prep for the rugby this afternoon. Also got my 2 x 0.5 ali discs for my dust shield project, measured up already, may have a hole saw bit of fun later.. Have a good one peeps..

Fixed a small hole in the boot floor. Only a temporary fix at the moment but for a first attempt I am very happy with the result.
Also I changed the reverse light bulbs, checked the light clusters and clean up the earth in the boot - still no reverse lights though

Hi mate you can search on here..for easy fix.there's a switch on in gearbox under the air box. Check cliprices cable is attached or buy new switch from vw classic or vwheritage.

Reverse lights are fixed!  It was a poor connection on the switch. A quick test and then a clean up and all working fine

Today was the turn of the front lights. No issues to fix but the bulbs were really dull in comparison to newer cars. So I swapped them to a Phillips set and I am really pleased with the results.
I also have it a coat of wax which it didn't really need as the previous owner had done this prior to selling it still…!

this weekend was a collecting of parts weekend, a 200mile drive for a new front door and two new wings. also took delivery of a new boot hatch.

Today I R B mostly blasting and prepping my rocker cover.

New blue mohair hood fitted at Car Hood Warehouse, Chessington. Fab job and they really know the Mk 1. They have never seen a 'Young Line' ! Took him for a spin with the hood up in rush hour traffic through Epsom 😱😱😱 Fan not cutting in, any ideas? Cheers

Checked fluids, put new waistline trim clips on then took it for a good run since it was the first decent dry day for a while up here in Aberdeenshire, ran it to temp, made sure the fan kicked in….then parked it back in the garage. Still to get a good detail but that`ll come when the weather improves.



It was great to give it a good loosen up today .

Blasted and painted my bottom pulley

started the task of splitting my RM's today, should be ready for the upcoming show season.

It was dry.. finally.. got the white knight out.. got some Shell Nitro.. just 20 litres as there's triple points on my shell card looked shiny under the forecourt lights.. took her for a nice dark drive.. beautiful.. tempted to take her to work tomorrow.. sunny forecast..

Yes I could of Welded it, but the point of all my work is how can a Toolically Challanged person fix it.

I started with this.


After a wee bit of sawing/drilling/grinding, and filing.


Primered, and Painted.


A little color, and clear.


Yes I could of torn my interior out, I could of cut the panel, and welded it all back up.

But what about the Average Joe who doesn't have a wire welder, and or Torch Welder.  

Well I started well thinking that painting cabby hinge covers.. but realised later that I'd done 2x NS or passenger side..blimey.  what a Duffus
Any how paints a very good match.. will photo later.

Any idea what size cup washers are? To finish the job?


From caster removed black side trim. Started cleaning and replacing clips for black/Chrome trims.. bling
