Is there a way of testing the relay? I've got a Skoda Fabia MK1 but don't want to go to the agro of getting to the relay panel as it's a PITA and then find it's not the same anyway.

Can I put 12v on it and test it like that, I got if from Stevens VW Dismantle and it has a signature on it (as does the fog light switch I purchased at the same time) so guessing they've tested it.

When should the relay buzz? Is it key out of ignition or just turn the engine off?

Not sure on how to test it, but mine buzzes when the lights are on and you switch the ignition off  with the key in. The buzzer also sounds if no keys in and you just turn the lights on.

Perhaps it's something to do with the change of fuse box which your car has???

Mmm maybe but it's just a OE CE2 fuse box and loom from a 91 MK2, as far as I read it that should work with position 7 .

I had the same it didnt work, so just left it in.  Today i was removing the binnacle and clocks, accidently pushed my wiper up with the ignition off and the warning buzzer came on! So it does work, but will only warn you if you left your lights on if it has been raining! Any thoughts??

So it works with the wiper lever up or down but not in off…

Cheers

You have to make sure all your lights are working and no blown bulbs. My friend copied my idea but it did not buzz at all. Strangely enough once changing the bulb in the headlight switch it burst into life.

The headlight switch has a little bulb that's on constantly when the car is on or running so you can see your switch in the dark when you need to put your lights on.

Try this, if not check fuses and for wiring faults. If all else fails try a replacement fuse box

I know i suprise myself sometimes with my geniusness ness
