Don't know if this has done the rounds before but who's had their mk1 the longest? There must be a series 1 owner somewhere out there from new?

I've only had mine 13 years.

There was a thread a while back. A few have had from new.

I've had the GTI 15 years now. Run MK1s or MK1 based cars (Jetta) since @1986 so nearly 30 years…

I'm at just over 14 years I think.

campaignjerry will be one of the long timers - I've lost count but I think it's 29 years ish for him?

I bought mine off the original owner.
Ive Still got the original log book. He'd had it from new in 79 and I bought it in 2013, so best part of 34 for Peter

We have had ours for 32 years, from new.

Last time this did the rounds Superworm won by about 3months, his was also a 1 owner.

Unfortunately he died a while ago and his car has been sold on. So can anyone else beat 32 years?

I'm up to 14 years with mine, but there's been many others before her! Actual mk1 GTI ownership started nearly 20 years ago with a Black '81 GTI.

I'm humbled by some of the other owners and the length of time they've had their cars.

Only just over 3 years but with all the bad luck mines got with people crashing into it and VW dealers who paint like Stevie Wonder sings, it feels more like a life time! O_o

Bought my 'All White' Cabrio in Nov.85 (14 Months old ) one previous owner with 11,000 miles on the clock. Traded in my '83 GTI Tin Top for it. Its now only covered 106,000 miles ,it's been a garage queen for the last 15 years only coming out on dry days.
