Does anyone remember there was a request for a mk1 golf a few weeks/months ago, saying that they wanted one of our cars but it will end up being auctioned off.. I suppose this is related..

Yes Kris, same show. At the point that was posted they asked us not to mention the show. I think they're sorted now for the car?

But on a serious note - from what I got on phone with them today they actually want a standard mk1 golf c or cl  3 door if poss basic and unmodified , ( good knows what that's got to do with hot hatches lol ) so anyone who fancies a day in Southend and your car on the TV

I have spoken to them today too - they did want a GTi but they have already found one by the sounds of things

I have put the word out for a non GTi model on the facebook and have contacted a few people - let me know if you know of anyone interested though

Called Seyi last week Thursday and said she would send an e-mail and then call me back later that day. Nothing heard then same again on Friday.Called again Tuesday and left details and told would be called back later.Nothing again then receive a call Wednesday afternoon and went something like this……

So do you have a Hot Hatch?
Me: Yes
What is it?
Me: Golf GTi Mk1
OK,is it a hatchback
Me: Yes.
I thought the GTI wasn't a hatchback?
Me; No,the GTI is a hatchback,the GTI is the sporty version of the hatchback.All Golf Mk1's were hatchbacks
But we want hatchback
Me: Yes,I know,thats what I have,a GTi.
Sorry,we don't want a GTI we want hatchback…….
Me: Well I suggest you google "Hot Hatch" and get back to me…

She then called my friend Sanj and done the same thing…..

What a waste of time putting someone in charge to source a car when they got no idea what they want…..Jokers !!!!

 

I had a similar experience, I has sent an e;mail off with a bit of background and pictures.  Think it was Seyi who called me on Tuesday, hadn't got my e;mail - not sure how she got my phone number then?  Had some vague questions around how long I had had it, why I chose it, then said could she have my e:mail address and would send me something.  nothing has arrived and then yesterday got a phone message to say they had hot an e:mail from me (presuming my original) and could she gave a chat about my car………. Not bothered to return the call.

That's a shame, they certainly had a lot of enthusiasm when I spoke to them (and knowledge) although I didn't speak to here.

36thcrazyfist  Si has been dealing with this mostly, I'll let him comment on this as he knows more of what's gone on now than me.

Sorry to hear of your experiences, however she is just a production team member by the sounds of things - obviously not a car enthusiast, I tried to explain to her the differences also, but I guess it's quite hard to understand if you're not into cars (and she sounds quite young too)

Bare with her though and help her out if you can, you never know she might buy one and join the club!

Like Andy said, cheers for your input, I think they have got a GTi and are now looking for a non GTi model to compare it with - so if you know of anyone, let me know please

From what I've been told, they wanted a Standard model, so they can compare the differences on the program between the bog standard flavors, to the GTI's. Im taking Gordon down on Wednesday and i believe hes gonna play the underdog

I PM'd him yesterday, but I guess it would have been quite a late finish, I'm sure he will post up though!

I just caught up, he got home at 1am today!! Said it was a good day, made comparisons with his and a GTI from VW Heritage collection then ragged it around the track.
