Stolen centre caps

Not happy

I'm shocked and more than upset to read this thread this is a club AGM  1st and I hope its a last time for this kind of behaviour if the person who did either the theft or the damage to a car (keyed it) are found I know the committee will have no problems involving the authorities. It has put a dark shadow over an excellent weekend..

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

its sad to say but if it is easy to remove best to take it off yourself and lock it away where possible

cant believe someone would do that knowing how much time and effort is put into our cars, I myself leave the roof down with things in the car without even thinking someone would take things from my car. to think this was done whilst everyone was looking round the cars too, I will be checking through my photos to see if I caught anyone acting suspicious. dark cloud over an excellent Saturday.

The guys caddy (will beardman) I think wasn't keyed at the agm. There is a thread on Facebook with the full story.

Well I just fired up my laptop with the full expectation of reading a whole host of posts relating to how darn good the AGM was.
But this one I didn't see coming.   :o

Shocking (family forum) must be the understatement of the year!  :(

Unbelievable,   …and what was our conversation this morning funk. ..
i know you can't go on a witch hunt ..but  can anyone vouch for the group of young lads parked near the far end in a mk3 , mk4 , a jetta..and maybe  something else.not sure who they were …
sorry but I just can't imagine any of the older mmembers on here doing something like that

Those lads were great, I don't think it's fair to label someone that would steel something because they're young.

I personally spent a lot of time with those guys and 3 committee members (?) spent the Saturday evening with them, I really hope they don't see this as it's not a fair accusation to make, they're a great bunch of guys and I personally thought it was a pleasure that they came!

They also had the red mk1 with the banded cream steels and the wood effect centre caps.

Not wanting to get into an argument here, but they is at least one members of that group in this club, and a new member at that, as comms manager I see the younger generation being important to keep this club moving forward, instead of just sticking to the Facebook because that's what they're used too!

You may not have known that they have a MK1, but read my above comment please, he had his car in the show and shine

As well as this, 2 of them are also from my home town and we have mutual friends in common, but it is Nuneaton… haha

I'm sure they wouldn't have done this! They're big fans of VW's and do loads of shows, the guy with the Mk3 is restoring a beetle

I can confirm that the White Caddy was not damaged at the show. I have spoken to the owner to try to get to the bottom of what happened so we could take action if we needed to.

It is a still a terrible thing for anyone to do to anyone's car whether it is at a show or just on your drive way at home

People who do that type of things are the dregs of society

Macca,
Sorry to hear this mate.
It's not usual behavior at the AGM.
I'm not sure what's wrong with people. I've heard of stuff going missing at other shows etc, but no trouble here.
The young guy's were sound I had a few chats with them the Golf with a boot came up etc and they bought lots of raffle tickets too.
Thank you for helping the other Club Guy out too with his mechanics.
Was it the guy with broken drive shaft, a few folks were trying to help him and IIRC CQ got a drive shaft for him.
That's the kind of positive aspect we should focus on.
It's annoying all the same though.

I agree if the person wants to return the caps that's the right thing to do. However shame on you for nicking in the first place.
I'd hate to think it's a Club/Forum user.
We had a few folks in that were not Club Members on the Day.
However annoying as this is please can you not try and defeat the swear filter and use edited profanity.   :o  :o
On a final note if someone has a couple spare knocking about in the Garage I'm sure Macca would love to have them.

Folks, thanks everyone for the comments.
Im sorry to spoil the weekend with my thread. The weekend, as was last years, was superb and well organised as usual. The only person who could have stopped them pinching them was me, but didnt see it coming at all.
Everyone who contributed to the planning and running did an excellent job and work permitting i will be back next year.
I was helping Gorby with his white tintop gti. It wouldnt start but we managed to work out that there was an immobiliser stopping the power going to the fuel pump and managed to by pass it.

First Golf, lots of work. I've started so I'll finish!
