Now that looks very tempting, good catch, great link as well mate!

So straight down the A2 Motorway for a bit from the Lake.
Do a right after about 30K onto 'Kartner Strasse', DON'T do a left onto it because you'll end up in Slovenia.

Then basically you do a left then a right, then a left, then a right, left then a right, then a left, then a right, left then a right, then a left, then a right!
You get the idea!

Looks like a really fun trip out, find somewhere nice to stop for lunch, make a day of it!  :ocf_emoticons__eusa_clap:

There's actually 4 or 5 of these roads in the area, I have the leaflets from them somewhere… they can be collected from tourist information once there.

The other 'fun' road is the road up to the Pyramidenkogel from Reifnitz..

Clint Eastwood fans should look out for the castle (schloss Werfen) used in Where Eagles Dare just south of Saltzburg… its impressive!

..and don't forget the little Porsche museum at Gmund where the 356 was born..

Mary Ure as Mary Ellison
Patrick Wymark as Col. Wyatt-Turner

William Squire as Lee Thomas

Released Dec 1968 and took $21,000,000

Not sure how many of our younger MK1 fans will understand this but heho!

If you want to get into Reifnitz on the Wednesday or Thursday (official show days) you will need to pay  (you get a nice landyard), if you want to drive your car through on those days you will need to have a pre purchased vehicle pass. The 2 weeks prior to that its open..

Hi Cormac,

Well as you may have read a few of us are going the week before.

I've not been before but I'm fairly sure you will need a ticket.
But to buy a ticket you have to have proof of accommodation!
That's for the day's of the 'Fest' itself!

Hotels around the lake are booked out many Months in advance and there's no just turning up and pitching a tent either.
You have about 40,000 VW fans descending on the place and so everything that week has to be strictly controlled!
And of course a large number of Police.

Look through my post as there are some useful links.  :)

The week before should be a lot of fun as well but without the massive crowds!

There's a link early on in this post that will take you to the official website for 2013, so there should be somewhere a link for 2014.
'addicted' is somewhat of an expert on this subject as he has been a few times.

My guess and it's only that is, if your camping you'll be a good distance from the lake and it will have to book.
Don't forget, you need to send a copy of your booking with your request to buy tickets.

Or you can all join us the week before, far less agro, less Police and still lots going on!
Can't remember how many of us right now but I'd guess about ten MK1's if not more.
