update time…..YEAH

I painted the floor with 4 gallons of the pro tech zinc based paint over the space of a week then finishing in 2 layers of hamerite black metal paint.



I also dug deep and bought the clear indicator lens for the headlights, there a vast improvement over the amber ones

I managed to fit the new fuel tank which was handy enough



Theses bad boys arrived a few days ago aswell so ill get them welded in over the next weeks



Me and my friend Mike spent all saturday measuring and perfecting the firewall so now it has the mk4 pedal box section fitted and is sooooo much more stronger than the original section





and finally a teaser for the interior i just purchased for it ;-D

It'll be very rare to find indeed :-)

This past week I've been cleaning down the engine bay and smoothing a few sharp edges off.

The old mk2 Jetta was sold on about 2 years ago, which I fully regret but mehh. I had my fun in it :-)

I did alot of work on the jetta over the holidays

Removing the old underseal and cleaning back any surface rust around both front arches





Followed by a good thick coat of zinc based under primer



The front area of the engine bay sealed



Super sear power FTW, thats the Toyota Starlet Power Steering Rack Primed



And the Mount braces too



I left theses to dry and went inside to watch the lord of the rings, when it was over 3 hours later i went and check the paint which was then dry, so i fitted the rack and was quite happy with the results



Next I trail fitted the pedal box



and the mk4 brake servo (now on the right side)



Clearance isnt an issue for the servo after modifing the chassis leg



And finally a clearance check for the steering column against the pedal area, the clearance is spot on
  


that concludes todays up! Its coming along rightly

Cheers matey, ill finally have it as a rolling shell shortly, most likely by the end of january after that im tackleing the fittings and wiring, things are getting intresting

Big update coming in after today and tomorrow's major work, I've been working on it flat out, everynight for the passed 2 months, yes including Christmas Day and New Years lol

well then, I cleaned down the boot area and tyre well making sure that no rust had started in the usual wiring mount points, then sealed it all off



then while it was drying i fit both front bottom arms nicely



My mate mike came over and we measured and welded the p/s chassis leg mount plate on









Fitted





Im glad thats the last of the mounts finished, the dog bone mount just needs modifed and its ready to rock and roll

and finally a teaser for next weeks install

Epic apologies for lack of updates. ive been up to my eyes with work and i finally i have an hour to spend on the laptop lol
 

Anyhow i started gathering more goodies and making the last mount for the engine





I really want the Mk4 airconditioning so i set about fitting the mk4 heater box







I recieved a basic intercooler thats not to thick and trail fitted it





Then on with the ABS pump just to get a nice place to have it held firm ill have the brake pipes measured and fitted in good time



with the wings fitted i wanted to see if the grill, lights etc was a good fit so i built the front up just for piece of mind

I ground off the rust under the bonnet and noticed that the steel structure that supports it and gives strength had come apart, seems like the old sealer had gave up, so i applied new sealer and set about priming it



Then i applied a evenly spread weight to make the frame bond



once set then its a case of painting with zinc based primer





As for the fuel system for the car, the fuel tank doesnt have a lift pump so ive desided to get the external inline fuel purge pump and inline filter that will go directly beside the tank



I still need to figure where ill mount it but no doubt i ll figure it

Hello shiney new coolant bottle



good thing that the mk4 coolant pipes for the bottle can be redirected and fit nicely, as well as having the level sensor which i can incorporate into the mk4 wiring loom as it had a coolant level sensor! YESSS lol
