I only bled at the injectors .
I thought i could force out any air by turning the engine over whilst being towed . (I bet i sound stupid dont i ??).

If that is no good ,can someone explaine the correct process of bleeding the system .

First post since getting my computer sorted .
Had the Golf running a few times but was only running very rough .
We could see the air in the diesel line  running back towards the tank in the clear line before the fuel filter ,when the ignition was switched off .
Could this be a air leak in the tank ???.
Maybe when id removed the 10yr old diesel from the tank ,i didnt seal the fuel sender relay correctly .
I refitted the sender unit with the o ring seal and for the first time it started off the key .
Hopefully tomorrow we might get some where near smooth running .

Still a bit smoky though !!!!

Was searching for something else and this thread appeared! Anyone know what happened to this?

Due to the lack of space and pressure from her in doors ,
the mk1 was swapped for for a Mecedes A class .
I had too many projects on the go and the lack of offers on this
forum forced me to swap her .
The car is know on its side having a tinnel fitted for the immenent 4wd
and vr6 grunt that is going to be fitted very soon .
Not the way i would like to have restored her but i guess she's no longer mine .
