Waxed her, then went for a chat with the guy who sprayed her in 2007, who politely told me my valeting skills are U/S  8O . He gave me some quality wax stuff, so i  got on with waxing again   and he fitted the side stripes  :cheer:  :cheer:

Removed the driveshafts in the hope of replacing them in one afternoon and sorting the vibrations I get at speed. It looked like a simple job on paper, but it took me more than a hour just to get the driveshaft nuts off. I guess they were rusted solid because they came loose with a big bang.

Right hand side was easy to remove, but the left was a different story. In the end I discovered that with the gear in neutral I had just enough clearance to pull the outer cv from the hub.
Of course that is not the end of the story; the seal cap in both drive flanges had come loose. The rubber parts are damaged so now I have to get some new ones before I can continue. I already thought it was a bit odd that a lot of oil was dripping down when I loosened the inner CV joints.   :D

Guess I might as well do the engine mounts while it's up on stands. And the top strut mounts……and the gear linkage…..and suspension bushes….and change the oil…..and the gearbox oil……and check the fuel system……gotta love old cars. 8) oh, and the brakes.

Bit more welding (4th repair section out of 5 required), ground it down and painted in primer too. Started cutting and trimming the 5th repair section too. Got a bit of a slow start due to a lie in, and took a long break to watch "Shipwrecked".
