had a good weekend on it got a load done..
degreased the bulkhead and chassis legs, and the rack and mounts and as much down there as i could get to… then dried and polished all the paint work i had degreased . . . . . what a nightmare that was.. i have cuts, but i won. eventually.
did the front panel too so that is all ready.
then, painted the gearbox mount, and the block.
cleaned up all the head too which has come out really well . . . .
mmm shiny chassis legs…
alternator and oil cooler next, and then the battery tray will get a lick of paint too ……. 8O
just waiting for payday now to get bits back from the powder coaters the i can start to rebuild.. wooooooooop.
i have decided it would be stupid not to do the cambelt whilst it is so open so that will be done, and an oil change and a new air filter too..

it is very worth it i think - has taken a month or so of evenings and weekends so far but i have enjoyed doing it.
so much so i think i will do the same under all 4 arches with the suspension hubs, brakes and all so the whole car is just as good all over, not new and restored, but clean, maintained and useable.
and definately showable.
have made a start on the alternator tonite, but it still doesn't look good enough.

It is satisfying - particularly when you clean up an engine bay
definately! - i notice you have done some more on yours this weekend too..
I have done some more, and had another productive, if cold, weekend on the engine bay.
started this morning like this…
didn't take long to get the rocker cover on, the coil, water flanges, hoses at the back of the bay, water bottle, airbox etc all into place..
and when i got soooo cold i had to stop things looked like this….
starting to look quite tasty …
still have to finish the alternator, buy and fit cambelt and tensioner, get them fitted along with water pump and belt then double check everything and tidy some wires up and we should be ready to go.. woop

welsh, just used gunk degreaser and a damn good scrubbing to get the oil and grease etc off the chassis legs and block. used wire and brass brushes to do the metal rusty bits and the box and head with, cloths to do the rest.. 8O
takes a while though.
