'Monkeys RS Turbo

Thought i might aswell start a thread for this. Learnt to drive in it when on holiday in Dad's home country of Cyprus. Overpowered, lightweight and dangerous, it's like a golf but not a golf    
It's a very rare C plate car, which means it was either a media or demo car before being shipped to Cyprus in '96.
Started restoring it this year a bit.
At the start of the long processing of grinding out metal, grafting in new sections and then smoothing it all!






Fair to say the old bonnet had been filled up more times than Jordan!

In the garage, first coat of Rosso Red down



Who needs aircon in 40 degrees heat when you can drive your car like this?

4 coats of 2pk paint, bit of cmpounding later, not even polished or lacquered!

Interior out, no rust mercifully!


Pretty much done

Finally got her done 2 hours before i was due to leave back to UK


Just cos she's 600 miles away doesn't mean i can't to any work!
Impeller out, cleaned and balanced ready for the 15 psi of boost it'll be making

love 80's fords owned a few myself (5 xr2's) nice looking e30 in the background of one of the pics too  8)

very nice RS and love the jensen  8)  8)

good old cvh engine easy to work on,just remember to oil change regular as they sludge up on the head  :wink:
There should be no rust at all if its in cyprus  8) bet its rare over there?

The o-rings in the metering unit perished and the bits of rubber went into teh injectors, dismantling that KE unit was not fun at all!

Got oil leak?

Driven an old interceptor like that, went well for a big car but made me feel nauseous for some reason.

I like the Rs!

Got a right bargain today at the car boot! Mongoose stainless steel backbox, pipercross carbon fibre induction kit and a HKS mushroom air filter for a grand total of £5! The backbox on the RS is pretty rotten so the SS backbox was a nice surprise

Yes indeedy. The pipercross cf induction kit is £174 new alone!!

TIM boost gauge and holder


Had some problems whilst rebuilding the turbo, this id the remnants of one of the water banjo bolts


Turbo is now fully rebuilt, just awaiting some new banjo bolts





And a nice Magnex exhaust system. 2 1/2" pipe with 4" rolled tip.



Should be alright for now, need some original s2 alloys to finish her off though

Think i need to get one of these i have always liked fords especially the RST. My dad has given me a bonnet, side sKirts and arches that he had kept safe. He doesnt know this yet though not until i buy an RST.
