cheers ash ,mind most are saying i shouldnt weld a drive shaft ,,,i say i thought it was going to snap i wouldnt have welded it ,,thats why i know its straight, its been heated, stick welded ,ground and is a short shaft ,which will be ideal for what i need as i know which will hold reasons are ,,
my caddys 4wd
rear axle is electronic so i can have 50/50 track sion etc
and my t5 bug runs 300bhp ,weighing over a ton ,and thats had some seroius hammer up the quarter mile ,and the shaft i welded ,,never moved,,,so ,im happy to say it will be fine ,matey  ,if it dosent then ,my fab skills are out the window ,lol

hi gaz ,tbh its everyone to there own ,,u balance proshafts as u can see thin weights on them ,but ive never seen a solid driveshaft with a small balance tag ,and evern if u spin driveshafts on normal cars ull be suprized as most arent evern wooble free lol ,if u think basic ,a driveshafts moves in a curcil ,and has a cv at either end ,so when it moves the movement is moved via the cv joints ,so ,ive dont the same with my t5 bug ,with a welded shaft runing 300bhp over a t0ne in weight  doing 12/13.6 up the quarter mile and test to 155mph too lol ,without any problems ,so if one solid drive will hold 300bhp then these im doing will be spot on for me ,just stick weld ,dont mig ,,them

This is some really impressive stuff! If in doubt you seem to cut up some metal and weld first, ask questions second!  I wish I had the talent to fabricate all this stuff and stick it together.  Really fascinating build, I'd love to see this on the track, you must let us all know when it sees it's debut outing.

Oh and I saw some pics of your Beetle on another thread - truly awesome. The electric air intake flap is genius!

Err yeah that would be nice.
I have similar thoughts abouts lots of things, I just don't then go out and build it!

Don't cut up the beetle though, it looks like far too much time and effort has gone into it to just be cut up.  Is it MOT'd and roadworthy?  Surely it has to be worth a fair bit - it's a practical everyday runabout

nothings hards just think basic,,,and out of the box as some tell me lol and make it fit ,,ive a mk4 polo vr6 conversion as well ,again not hard ,,,i reckon 2months be done ,,,,bug dosent want too mutch to finish off ,some carpets ,odd bit of welding ,and i may mot it give it a little blast ,but winter isnt very good for bugs ,,,,specaily mine lol

well thats others side mounted lol

another rear damper mount made and welded in place

and its finaly sat on its own 4 wheels ,with indepent suspention,,
little dark but u can roughly see

next step ill make a few rear axle stengthing bars ,and start on some bodywork welding lol ,,,it would have easyer finding a tidyer caddy ,but have to say it will be solid when i get these bits sorted

take a barrel to a local locksmith that cuts car keys, they will be able to make you a key to fit,
take passenger door barrel as should be less worn. as long as it the same as ignition.

good work btw
