Oh yes the day has come just paid for my engine should be here by the end of the week then its 20valves and a TURBO im feeling it hopefully when i work out how to post some pics there will be a step by step idiots guide on how to do this conversion on a low budget

cheers spent 2k on it this year just the engine to go should go pretty well

gotta have somthing to do on them cold evenings in the garage why not freeze while spooning a 20vt lump in

Got sum picks for you guys

spent most the day getting rid of the old 8v from under the bonnet and cleaning the dirt  from years of road kill ect ect

one job i thought id start on was moving the gti origianl fuel pipes to the opposite side of the engine bay this was not a bad job although wasnt to keen in having to loosen the rack off to get them there a bit of jiggery pokery and bobs your uncle jobs a good un for the moment anyway will know exactly where they need to go once i get the engine TOMMOROW!!!!!

any way ill keep you all posted and hopefully ill be spooning the new lump in within the next week or so with help from my mate DEAN sorry mate forgot to mention it

the 20vt engine turned up on a pallet today while i was at work and the nice tnt driver left it in the middle of my garden CHEERS

so anyway started to strip a few minor bits of it like gearbox hmm cable change no thanks good old 020 will do i love changing diff pins lol until i get a mk3 tdi box .

first crisis took cambelt cover of and there they were teeth from the cambelt missing :banghead: oh dear so timed engine up all ok for now anyway also waterpump was fudged great

and to add insult to injury no down pipe :banghead: bugger never mind so my new shopping list for this week is as follows

cambelt
waterpump
16v tensioner
custom mount by ME

All this talk of 20VT conversions is getting me thinking on how I really, really, really need to get on and finish mine..

 I've got a completely stripped cab tub on stands waiting for paint and a 20VT engine stripped waiting to be lightend/balenced etc.

 Dam it, what am I doing sitting here..

Well got the engine mount made up this week looks goods going to drop the lump in the car to make sure all me angles are right deep joy its going to in out in out before it stays in there

one minor crisis took the turbo of to get a stud removed which was broken and the turbo has quite a few hairline cracks going through it :banghead: that is not what the doctor ordered not sure where i stand with the guy that sold me the lump but im trying to get some kind of refund so i can replace it maybe with a KO4 :mrgreen:

Bin told the K04 works well with the BAM engine (225bhp) for which it was designed but not so good on a 150bhp engine, the K03s is better, its a hybid of the 03 and 04. You can get 240bhp from it no problem, how much more would you want in a Mk1.

Alot better results are got from the jabbasport IHI upgrade.

got my water pump cambelt and 16v tensioner fitted today starting to come together now yippee

think i will probally get another ko3 just so i dont have any greif least i know it goes straight on with no spooning

took my turbo down to see the main man at g-werks and yes its got heat cracks or in english its fudged

lots of g60 action going on down there them boys are the knackers when it comes to the g-lader

ohwell back out to the garage gonna get myself a kettle tommorow YES DEAN a kettle no more trudging through the house

watch out for the flying brick at santa pod next year and a horrible green thing drag racing in mk1 golfs coollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Here it is guys 20vt in the cab took about 10 mins to drop it in bit of a bitch if you leave the turbo on mine was off anyway

well as for taking it out again think ill leave it there and just take the gearbox out pretty happy with the way the mounts all lined up to

got my turbo today hooray just went donw my local vw dealers for some gaskets would you believe

there cheaper than gsf??

downpipe gasket ?2.07

turbo gasket ?2.25

now that what i call cheap gsf wanted ?5 for a downpipe gasket

whats the world coming to

anyway ill be sppoming my turbo onto the car today so should have some pics later

does "jabbasports" website work anymore? Have they gone under? It`s been under construction for yonks now….

 keen to hear how your 1.8t install goes bens_cab! I`d love a snarling blower under my bonnet  :D

jabbasport are still going they earn to much to go bust

having a few technical probs with the install but i can overcome its not as hard as they all make out and it can be done on a budget less than 2k im at a ?1100 and i have everythink apart from ecu which is ?500

 wow  :)  I`m relativly technical minded, but i think an engine install is a bit out of my league to be honest bens_cab. Especially as the loom, cable gearbox and emerald system are all a bit of a nightmare to set up; so i`ve heard.
 I`d have to trust a company to do a 20vt install for me, and then were speaking ?4k+ eeek 8O

 SO when funds allow next spring, i reckon i`ll be looking round for somewhere to install a 2 litre 16 valver. And hopefully should see 175bhp. Not quite the 225 ponies that you`ll be enjoying….but i reckon i`ll be able to cope!

 Keep up the good work bens_cab as it`s making good reading  :D

beware you may need it setting up at the dealers,and you might need clocks,transponder key and reciever, all matched to the ecu.also speed senser from speedo drive.it depends on year of munufacture.

going to use the 16 seat ibiza gearbox rod change and get the ecu from emerald i do have the whole a3 loom ecu dash closks and key but dont want to make it look to trev by using a3 clocks in my beloved mk1

made up the downpipe today which was fun trust me when i say theres no room for error the steering knuckle i suspect will be getting a good tan when its at running temp 8O but these things are sent to test me

16 valve conversions would probally be quite easy compared to a 20vt do it yourself im allways a willing volunteer.

the secret to my conversion is dub76 lives round the corner so when he pops over i allways get the camera out on his 20vt setup :D
