melted wire behind fuse box

Post

Been doing some rewiring in engine bay thought I connected it all up correctly and as I was trying to start the car could smell burning and noticed my headlights were staying on. The wire that's melted is on blue block A behind the fuse box pin No 9 light switch. If anybody got any ideas y this has happened it will be great. Did take photo but can't seem to upload it.

Sounds like a short, you just need to get a multimeter out and trace it I am afraid

is it a later cabrio/scirocco? if so check in the engien bay for a 2 pin plug with yellow and maybe yellow/blue wires, this is the dimdip resistor plug make sure you havent plugged it into the wrong thing otherwise you'll get a loom fire.

a good one is accidentally plugging it into the front fog plug with yellow/white and brown wires, this will short the dimdip wires to ground
