While anything is possible if you have the time or the money I don't think its going to fit "easily". I believe the 02m has been fitted to the mk1 but this all comes from a much wider car and I don't really see how the hubs will line up with the struts or the rack etc.

There is a bloke on here that has done this, he ised the hubs aswel but the driveshafts have to be shortened to fit ur golf, and you also need to use the conversion mount for that box, but other than the driveshafts being a big job your other big job is to deal with the speedo drive as this box doesnt have a mechanical one like for instance the 02j,it uses an electrical sensor, this is assuming your going to be using your mk1 clocks, but there is a company that make a conversion box thingy which converts an electrical speedo sensor to a mechanical one for conversions such as this, but it is pricey, ive been looking into this miself as in the not so distant future i will be doing a mk1 pd engine with this box  so ive been trying to gather as much info as i can, but if its a 6 speed ur after and ur not short of a few quid i wud look into getting an 02s box which is basically an 02j with a 6 speed, hence no need for driveshaft shortening, but ud need to get hold of an 02j box and swop the belhousing side over as this doesnt have the mechanical speedo sensor either but the 02j will swop over if im not mistaken

Hope that helps

THanks mate, very helpful. Probably going 02J or 02A.

Cheers,

its only a case of chopping and mating the outer end of a mk1 shaft to the o2m shaft.

sleeved and welded for strength but be better at a machine shop so it was running true once welded

I've heard that t4 2.5 transporter inner c.v joints fit on to the mk1 shaft
