Ah the London buffs were imperial and a bit tricky to work around as they were wider, longer and taller than the IBSTOCK alternative metric version. We reused the original bricks on the front to keep everything looking smartborednow said
Superb, ta for that.
They'll always be a colour difference on the bricks as you say due to age etc. Especially as LBC is no longer around.
At least you weren't trying to match imperial bricks, like we have to fir the old railway viaducts and bridgesit's a flaming nightmare. We end up having to have them made!
Good to hear the roofing system is reasonably easy. As I'm going to have sky lights it'll be a bit trickier but I'm sure we'll manage. A bit of an idea on the time frame is also good to have. Luckily the weather held for you.

Some bits arrived in the week

The plan is to get the electrics sorted and then tank the walls. I'm going to make the garage useable at the moment and have lots of metal shelving to temporary sort out tools. I'm going to finish the insulation later in the year when it's a bit drier. The garden is really the next priority to clear and get rid of the summer house and shed. At least I can start working on the Golf

As you get stuff sorted in record time, and to good effect, is there any chance of you nipping to London and sorting out Parliament……….. I've got a pocketful of good hard slaps I can lend you.![]()

I think the wife will have something to say if I don't finish with the garage soon, the more time I work on the garage the more I end up spending from the garden fund and patio slabs aren't cheap

Proper job mate.
Can I ask whats with the tanking solution? Do bricks leak?
Can you tell I;m not a builder![]()
Ian
Ha ha, i'm no builder.
From doing some research I decided to go this route, someone please correct me if I'm wrong but this is why I decided to use tanking slurry.
Normal way to insulate a single skin wall would be damp proof membrane, battens insulation between and plaster board. I've heard if condensation builds behind the damp proof membrane it runs down the sheet to the floor causing pools of water, worse case soggy plasterboard.
Tanking the wall means no water can pass through at all, then I can dot and dab insulated plasterboard direct to the wall. Another bonus is I get more garage space as battens would space the walls out making the width narrower.
It will also look brighter in the room being white until I get the board on and look pretty

I've got to tank that section of the room first before the consumer unit and sockets are fastened to the wall. Dad is cutting the bricks flush with the wall tomorrow on either side which means I can make some room in the old bit to push the Golf in and then finish the piers on Saturday.
Should get the final 4 lights up in the new bit and it should be super bright

Next I cleared the room for the next phase. Plenty of room to finish the piers off

Even with the nose of the Golf a foot back from the new bit I have at least 2.5 metres behind

I have plasterboard and insulation for the ceiling arriving this week and 4 x 1 metre wall cabinets for the part where the Golf is in.
