Thank you hairy, you've been along for the journey for a long time so you know the score! I'm very happy with how it's turned out, should have took a lot less time but it's done right! I've been asked to attend a few car shows over here like Titanic Dubs on the 30th of sept  and Dubshed next year, so going to go enter the Jetta in to them 😉 Great thing that their close by! Still I've got some things to do over the next few weeks so stay tuned 😁

You've handled it the right way and done it properly.

Now you can just enjoy it with some occasional tinkering!

Yep the tinkering has begun, the two rear wheels have been getting refurbed today! They where nasty and corroded but after 5 hours of cleaning, sanding, buffing, and painting, both wheels are finished, the tyres are getting refitted on Monday in work and I'll bring them over probably on Monday or Tuesday and fit them…
Currently the car is at my mate Bert's place getting the body work wet sanded and buffed within an inch of its life… show room condition paint work and it looks unreal 😁

On a lighter note, me and my bud at lunch went shopping for camping equipment… bbq's, sauces, air mattresses and other stuff for the road trip and show at edition 38 in Northampton at the end of the month! Sooo syked for this 😄

I brought the car down to Bert's as meantioned last week and he's done a fantastic, so went down and fitted the rear wheels so they all match,

I'm still waiting on the registration number coming back! The waiting game is terrible and it's got me on my knees beganning it to arrive, I'm going to see if I can borrow the trade plates from work again on Saturday and take her home, I've got a new (10 year old never used) radio with a USB port and mmi card slot so going to fit that soon.

Finally the car is 100% legal to drive, once I fit the plates tomorrow, I can finally look at it and say wow lol

Roll on edition 38, still need to fit the power steering pipes which I'll do next week 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Finally got the plates on and took her a sail! She drives like a dream and the power is very tasty 😁😁😁😁

Well guys and Gail's, I finally got the front duck bill splitter fitted….. it's 100% better now!
I also managed to get the engine remapped as it was going into limp mode from under boosting down low and over boosting up to, secretly I had to remove the turbo and fit a boost limit stop to the actuator so it doesn't detonate the engine lol….

Now it's got approximately 230bhp still pending the dyno run but basically my mate that tune it said it would easily make 260bhp bhp with the current mods and standard injectors…. but I wanted it backed off a tiny bit….

No fancy popcorn limiter or launch control modes fitted either, just straight forward spool up at 2300rpm and max boost reached at 3100rpm and going right to the rpm limit of 5000rpm! Like 💩 Off a shovel lol

And then finally… me and 2 mates did the epic road trip to edition 38 arriving on the Friday morning, I had my car up with michael and the KleenFreaks crew on the show field…. let's just say the car got loads of attention haha.

Anyway here's a stack load of photos  😁

After passing my test I used my parents mk2 Jetta for about a year until it was written off (not by me!)
I then bought my own mk2 Jetta.

I was never really a fan of the mk1, but have to say this really looks spot on. I don't like stanced cars (a beetle, maybe just about the only car that can pull it off), and if modified I like them to look like factory modifications, you've nailed it

Thank you very much rowdy! Surprisingly I've put zero effort into stancing the car, it kinda all just worked out and well it worked first time around :-D

Anyway it's been months since I last updated and truth be told, it's been fantastic! I entered in a few shows and obviously won nothing what with completely standard mk7 golfs lowered on cheap coilovers and 3 grand wheels winning everything! It sucks when judges are stuck in their ways! Oh well you win none you lose none :-X

Here's some photos from the last few months including minting the car before I took her off the road a couple weeks ago for the winter!

So since the jetta's Been stored up this passed few month with the odd dry day out, I decided to refresh the front Grill and headlight trims, I removed them and sprayed satin black also replacing the vw badge with a nice new chrome style version and refurbed the diesel badge, I forgot to get a photo of the chrome painted badge but I will someday soon
It looks far better now without tired front plastics now :-D

Also I've entered the car into the indoor event at Dubshed in Belfast this year, always wanted to have it on display there cause every year I've been, it's always been the case of "I'll have mine here next year" of course it's only been dreaming until now so fingers crossed it'll be accepted!
The vw scene has gone south I've noticed in the uk, it's mostly just young cash flashers living on the drip with a car on a scheme with £3k alloys lowered on cheap coil overs or the student loan funded air lift kits, and they win all the prizes!
Hopefully the judges reconise a truly built not bought project  :-D

Thanks hairy, it's always good when the locals spot it :-)

Well managed to get the car prepped for dubshed this year, spent 3 days getting all the necessary stuff done with amazing help from friends, didn't win anything with the usual big bucks cars on air ride and big dubs fitted! But was a great event anyway

Also I'm building a MK1 caddy with the conversion of the TDI PD130 engine I wanted to ask you how did you do with the electrical system?
did you use that full MK4 golf or just a part?

can you help me?

Hello Roger, thank you kindly!

Hope your conversions going well?

The loom fitted is the complete mk4 system, a couple of tiny things have been removed but essential isn't the complete unit!
Anything else you need to know?

So little over a year since the last proper update was done, I managed to get to edition 38 again and had a blast, went to a few more shows but eventually parked her away in October 2018 ever since then it's been in the shed tucked away, I've decided to leave it in the shed this year and gather a few parts and research for a new development for the Jetta 😃

So Air Conditioning is something I've strived to get for the little car, so far I've collected the blower motor and heater box with evapourator built in and a heater control panel  with A/C switch from a cabrio model in Texas 😁

Since most parts for behind the dash have mostly arrived, figured may as well start stripping the dash down to get access to the original heater box, the facial needs a little trimming for the A/C button to go through the back of it but it'll fit nicely once trimmed, even trial fitted the centre USA air vents that I got at Edition 38 in 2018… £5 for them was a bargain!
Will probably have the rest of the dash out on the weekend then drain the coolant from the system, I was going to replace the heater matrix just while in there but the A/C version had a vertical version different to the norm and obsolete so I'll just flush it clean when it comes to it.

So much hassle doing this but…….. one needs A/C 😜

Post

So over the weekend, I've removed the complete dashboard out, drained the coolant and removed the heater box, it's rather tiny in comparison to the A/C unit, so it's left me with a dilemma as the clutch pedal is an inch away from the old heater box, the problem is the low and high pressure pipes come out that side and will immediately foul the clutch pedal, looks like even this is going to have to be altered to the extreme to make it fit, even if they could be rerouted around the pedals, it's all electrical, steering column and air duct so there's literally no room to breath above the drivers foot well under the dash, here's a comparison and a few other photos so you can see what I mean….

BIG vs normal
