Prodject Dust 1.8 20v t

Right guys i have built a driveway yay… lol not bad for a first attempt my brother in the pic helped out a fair bit then got the golf on it result… lol spent the two days stripping the engine so its ready to come out inbetween scotlands summer showers.

decided to leave the monoblocked area lower to give myself some clearance to get working below the car.

My brother chas in my dodgey blue jacket. Good guy helped alot. And me da who didnt realy but appreciated the effort lol

Anyone interested in a 1300 engine + gearbox?  Millage reads 129k Little use do to needing core plugs done.

Bought a cheapo mma welder and had a crack on the old downpipe (cut a whole in it) not the nicest but solid started on the left then figured out how to make the bugger arc by the time i got to the right i could get a full rod out in arc. never ground it down but will do later on after i finish playing with it.

Getting a shot of a engine lift tommorow so am well excited to get on with the conversion.

Got the engine out today. The mate with the lift never turned up so done it ala rope n bar. so big thanx to the mates in question who turned up with a rope n bar.
The 1300 engine

Overall it dosent seem too bad. Im gonna degrease it and attack the rust then drill out the spot welds an move the mount.

Tommorow after work the fun starts

Cheers for the offer but it went the way of ol yeller… after i sold it on Cheesy Grin well technically swapped it on lmao What kinda golf you got? got a few odd's n sodds lying about?

I've been quite buisey last few weeks i've degreased the engine bay, bought a engine lift and treated my self to a new tool box. Im totaly sick of carrying 5 tool set's to got part hunting so bought a box an pilled it all in. Also sick of using tires for axel stands so bought a set of 3ton fellieswhich i beleave will lift the car high enough to get a hippo under. All going well got a set of tombstones for much cheapness today will need a bit of tidying though. I gonna get up early doors and get them out before the owner changes his mind.

Been stripping and polishing a set of alloys for the mk1 my mims are causeing too much scrubbage so done a seal with my brother for a set of alloys he had lying about which i think will be a nice change.

And the 172's due its mot & tax next month so been doing a few odd's n sod's to that pic's of the mk1's progress to follow Wink

Alright guys some photos of the progress / assement of work to come i've been meaning to get up :D

Got the tombstones and took the steering wheel while i was there makes a nice subtle change also took the front splitter for when it becomes a berg-a-like

They're in for a re-trim at somepoint to tidy em up.
Found some waxed thread and stitched the wheel back up and gave it a good clean was looking to see how painting the porsche in red would look im not a fan what do yous think? Pics to follow forgot to take one when i re-fitted it.

Started cleaning up my wishbones to seam weld and paint them.

Turns out my 320mm disks are a bit too massive to be of any use so back to the drawing board on that one. Any thoughs for vw fitment replacements? Calipers fit fine though need some vaux specced dub bolts for them and a good clean + paint.

Meet mukka the chiwawa helper dog (my sisters)
yes before you ask he's well got a squint peeper

Some pics of the tin worm Nothings too bad although its alarming that on the 1st pic that rust colored spot is whats left of the CARPET. Lmao It all got a good coat underseal a year ago  before the mot so im suspecting theres more hidden under ther. Joys of working in a pit without lights! The drivers side is the worst so far. :banghead:

Plans may have changed engine wise anyway after a few months looking for a engine /subitle donor car  i've been offered a 99' 1.8t with everything to make it run for 250 so i may go for that with some qpeng or mega squirt management to keep the oe sleeper look.

Theres more to come but am half alseeap so i'll post em up soon.

Actually yeah i'v just got the ball rolling again after what seems like a hetic summer!  Not so hetic for the golf though. lol A loooong time later my engine mount and gear linkage arrived!

Since the last post i've found out my engine code is a AEB (150 bhp big valve)i stumbeled on its location on a randown web page its located on a tab which sticks out from top of the cambelt end of the engine.

In the last week i've emailed toyotec about mega squirt engine management set up. I got coil pack and wireing from a peugeot at the weekend to go with the 16v mk2 leads and a  167 fuel relay. along with a boost gauge and volt meter.

I got a intercooler, mk3 16v rad, thermostat and slimline fan.

Got my fuel lines on wed I just spoke to a my mate who's bringing up a cavi fuel pump, swirl pot set up for it.

Today i ordered my gti steering rack plus upper and lower ball joints from euro car parts.

i also sourced a rear disk conversion and 16v m/c and servo that im finding out more about it at the week end.

So next im looking for a aux tensoner euro car parts p/n:328440040, fan belt no p/s or a/c (gates 6kp905) Can anyone confirm these part numbers? also how are you's spaceing the cambelt 8mm out?

Im looking to mock up and weld the big block mount into place over the next few weeks.

More to come later with pics!  8)

I thought I recognised it. I was up at Raf Kinloss and Lossiemouth for 18 months. Ive spent many hours ferrying myself up and down that one, I know that road like the back of my hand. lol

Good luck with the build, I'm building a 20v t series 1 and a kr 16v series 2 myself!

Im no sure about doing them for others as its the first time id tryied myself. Good result granted but dunno if it would be the same again!
