My mk1 - ex Impact/Dubsport car

Hi all, im new to the VW scene was originally into the old for setup.

Ive jus bought this tonite, been after it for a while.

It was built by impact and dubsport in 1998 and was featured in PVW. has changed a wee bi since then , now on 16 in RH wheels instead of 14 in and is now pushing 230bhp.
Its been in storage since 2004 so will need a check over and setup befor i put it back on the road, and a good front brake setup fitted.

Its also got a nice big full cage, mk4 polo dash, big winged bucket seats ect.

Will get more pics up as i get on with the work, only took 1 quick photo tonite.

hope you like it,

cheers,auld

Not really much of an update, but i spent most of today machine pollishing the golf and the paint is now looking mint. Just a couple coats of wax tomorow and do the plastics ect

I also fitted the staggered 14's to it today that were fitted to it when it was featured in PVW, would need to adjust the height ov the coilovers if i was to keep them on tho.

Didnt like the black VW badge on the grill so i took the black paint off it and the trim on the door handles which i think freshens it up a wee bit,

hope you like….

Got the car waxed today and the 14's onto the other side, ive still got to adjust the coilovers during the week as its sitting a bit high.

Also drained the tank, fitted a new fuel pump and filter and spark plugs (£18 fookin quid each!)

Anyway took it outside for a few pics…….

Just come across this thread via google.
Auldy sold the car on in 2011 to a lad who lives not far from me & I've owned it since mid 2012. I'll update this with pictures tomorrow (be warned its in bits at the moment)

I'll start with the photos of the car as it was when I first got it home.

On the last picture you can see the front bumper is hanging down on one side. The clip in the wing had come out and the bumper had come away from the iron. Unfortunately it wont pop back together so I need to buy a new bumper at some point.
One of the first issues I looked at was the drivers window that didn't work.

I then decided I wanted to fit a standard mk1 dash because I prefer them and I had a spare. Once I'd removed the polo dash (which was held in with self tappers) I discovered that all the dash mounts had been removed. I put a wanted add on here and fortunately sphmk1 answered my prayers and chopped the mounts from his car and I've had them all welded back in.

I've removed the plastic arch trims (that were riveted on) to find the arches beneath are flared.

The engine has gone from this

to this (the boost pipe was a template of how I wanted it to run)

I've wound down the coilovers as far as they will go (the lower [platforms on the fronts would touch the tyres if it went any lower and that's with the wrong camber)

I've bought a rallye style charger outlet from Bar Tek

I've had a custom intercooler made up by a local company. I copied photos I could find of the cooler that G-werks and Pitstop Developments used to sell. In hindsight it could do with being 50mm longer and having a 76mm dia inlet instead of a 63mm.

I removed the battery tray and gave it a lick of primer to keep it right until the car gets painted again

I've painted the needles in my clocks so that they match the VDO gauges I plan to fit

I've had a load of engine parts powder coated by a company in Darlington called Impreziv Finishing and a mandrel bent boost hose made from Stainless by a company in Newcastle called A.A.S (they make very good exhausts as well)

And finally I've port matched my charger, had a go knife edging my throttle body (not the best but it will do) and bought some bigger injectors

Its a long way of going back on the road but at least there's some progress. The plan is to get everything fixed and then get the car repainted. When that will be I have no idea because it all depends on money :(
