got the head back yesterday
looking good
all welded you could hardly tell
so last night i built all the head back up ready to be fitted
so tonight it went back in
been out for a bit of a drive and it seems to have resolved all my problems
but i'm not counting my chickens yet, more road tests needed

Is it a big improvement?
And Yes I'm with u on that one Ade. I've done a fair bit to mine this year and need to give it damn good shake down before the german trip.
My estimate is if it makes it to wolfsburg and back then its sorted!

it's nice to have a little extra power if you need it, plus with the 5spd box it make cruising alot better
70mph is not not a problem whereas before it sounded like it was screaming it's nuts off
need to get more mile under my belt, hopefully stanford hall on sunday, then the AGM. then tinkering time before Germany

And yes, a 5 speed is worth its weight in gold even in the n/a diesel, the 4 speed was pants, as you found out at 70mph.
Hope that's the end of your bad luck and you can finally enjoy the result of all your hard work 8)

after the engine was changed it went to stanford hall, which was sucessfully
next up was the wolfsburg trip 1800mile round tip….. the trip was amazing, brilliant laugh and the car made it there and back without missing a beat
before setting off
Service on the M25
Ferry port
so when returning from germany i used it daily for 2-3weeks as a 3 year old pugeot i just bought went wrong so i was carless, but BABs filled in with some daily service
then some good friends (bruiceboy and amanda) offered me a MK2 GTD for a good price so that was bought for a daily
this has served me well for the last 8 months without missing a beat. it even made an aperance as my wedding car
so all i need to do now is get some insurance an MOT on the MK1 and then some tax and we should be good for the summer again

I know what you mean mate, depressing isn't it. Sun came out today and was quite warm when you were in it. Freezing in the shade though
