AT LAST! Hairys Resto!!

Well despite work and life in general meaning no MK1 time at all, a recent house move - to move in with my girlfriend, has forced me to get my Campaign rolling again!

Don't get too excited though, it's purely rolling and moved location is all!! Lol. The story so far;

Rear beam re-fitted with new back plates, new hubs and bearings and drums. Old suspension struts were used for speed;

Back on wheels for the first time in 8.5 years!! (OMG!!!! )

…and poking it's backside out the garage for the first time too! With help from my son, bolting up the rear beam was quick and we freed the front discs off with a lot of hitting - did one side each!!

Then the following weekend (last weekend) the MK1 was properly moved for the first time in years. I kind of got to drive it, although it was push power over the road to where the trailer was.

And now it resides in its new home - fortunately in the same place as my tools and MIG so I at least have the possibility to work on it!!

Realistically I won't be able to do any work on it for the next couple of months, but the plan is to get the engine out and get the shell on a spit to finish the job properly. It will be sooo nice to have space to work on it now!

Keep your eyes peeled for updates (eventually!!) lol

is that an Armstrong Siddeley it's parked next to in the last picture?  Hope the Golf isn't going to be as old as that before you have finished!

Lol I hope not too!!

The grill in front of my Golf is off an Armstrong Siddeley limo, the car next to mine though is a MKV Jag.

Here's an older pic of both, straddling a 1936 SS Jaguar

Haha, thanks Matt.

No, sadly it's a part-time only thing now - but I've kept on the unit and will 'dabble' as time allows :)

Thanks Dave. Any progress is a step forward!!

The Jags and Armstrong are part of a wedding car fleet that I started to look after last summer. I do some of the driving too.

I get all the pleasure and none of the bills!! lol The '36 SS is a really endearing car to be in, very nice indeed.
