And a quick, light , coat of acid etch primer just because I can, and although primer is porous, I reckon it’s not as porous as body filler. So that will do for now.

Nice work and keep it up!
Just about to post some more forwards… then backwards progress on mine and in the same boat as you….. Can't wait to see fresh paint on mine after a LOT of preparation!!!

Well this is turning into a bit more than a recommission,
I've spent the last few days preparing the car for primer, my plan is to to have the car painted and follow up with the panels and the bumpers/body kit….

Most of the issues are small rust specs, and they are mostly around the fiddly shapes, which involves hours and hours of rubbing and sanding by hand…

So the build up continues, collected the doors, bonnet and boot lid today, and currently fitting/fitting up the doors - on a mission!!

The paint finish looks good

Never noticed before but you only have 1 cut out underneath the grill, on my 1988 GTi I have both sides cut out to let air into the engine….
