DX to ABF conversion wiring

1) over-run valve, no longer required. keep the d/2 wire handy, its ign live and might be required for something on the abf loom depending how you decide to splice things

2) cold throttle enrichment no need for it on abf

3) yup no need for this

4) indeed

yes the abf oil sender is in the filter housing, use the kr one just in case the abf one is different rating. its different part number so i assume it is. and yes, run the live direct to spade in back of fusebox

Jonny- great help once again thanks!:thumbs:Just trying loom in for size before wrapping it and come across another query:
:ocf_emoticons__BangHead:The black two pin plug with a black/yellow and a red/yellow which I believe is for the fuel pump earth trigger? That used to connect to the KR ECU in the scuttle tray- where should it go now please?

Cheers

black/yellow is not needed, red/yellow splice to abf loom blue/yellow to g1/3

cheers rj. The blue/yellow I have already spliced to D/13- I take it I now also add the red/yellow too-that's right I hope?

one more thing! the green/black and red/white (oil sensor & outside temp sensor) which go to two pin black plug behind board- I cant find anything to connect them to- I guess they werent connected when running KR- where are they meant to go to?

cheers!

no no, just leave it as is. you're talking about the ecu side then i take it, if so just leave it off the car you're done.

the oil and outside temp wires run off to the dash, if you dont have mfa then no wires ;)

right RJ- nearly there I hope!

It is a gti model with mfa, so I should have a black two pin connector somewhere for the outside temp and oil temp plug to go to right? If so, where does it connect to on dash? I havent pulled dash out to look for it but seems I may have to.

Anyway-what I "rang" for: the black wire coming from immobiliser box- I have searched online, inc you diagrams but still cant work out what to do with it. Other posts relate to CE2. From wiring diag it seems to be a permanent live feed but that doesn't see right? I may also be confused about the jumper box wires; please clarify what should be thee- I have two grey/white wires and a yellow.

I take it I just blank off the two hose connections on the inlet near the throttle (carbon can and airbox connections)?

the wires will be tucked up somewhere, they run direct from the cluster. it may be theres only single pin plugs for them.

immobiliser should have some brown wires which are earth, and a black wire which is ign live. then grey to egu, and grey to diagnostics block. then diagnostics port plugs into the block as well. port will need a live and earth.

cap off the throttle body connections aye

it is mk1 100mm you need, if they're the wrong length best doublew check the numbers. certainly wont be the first or last time euro mess things up they dont seem that great.

immobiliser would allow car to fire up for a few seconds then kill spark. maybe crank sensor? best get diagnostics plugged in see whats up.

up to you with reverse wiring really

strip the abf loom down, remove the lighting, battery +ve and -ve wires, fan controller, fan etc. anythign that isnt connected to the ecu. you'll be left with an earth wire from the ecu, splice this into the TCI loom earth to battery.
UR-)<

im trying to get my head around doing all of this but dont have a ce1 fusebox infront of me, (waiting on delivery)

when you say strip it back, are you cutting them off so thinning the loom down, example, lighting… yellow plugs a1 a2 ect become redundant (wires can be snipped and pulled through other end? i had started un tapping it all but all the combined earths (brown?) make it impossiable to remove without cutting.

cheers

strip all the tape covering the loom first, then start to remove the parts you dont need.

Chop all the thin brown earths off the chunky brown -ve cable, this will make your life much easier removing all the unused gubbins! both the battery cables to the fusebox want removing as you'll be using the mk1 battery cabling.

as you say there are loads of wires running back to it. there are only 2 engine earths to it one from the ecu and the other to the coil. since the coil is going to be binned in favour of mk2 coil plus mk1/2 electronic ignition unit and wiring that just leaves the ecu earth, which you tap into the TCI unit earth back to the battery :)

the red from my immobplug runs into a junction with black and blues? id this normal

for seat yes, the immob wiring is spliced direct to the engine loom. you'll probably find a live wire spliced to the main battery live or something, if so cut it and run it to a live feed on your fusebox. my recommendation is the ciggy lighter live, same as diagnostic port live

hopefully vrupper is going to pop around tonight to see if he can help with whats left. well update you with where im at later on.

thanks again for your time and patience
