I am looking for a Mk1 wiper motor quite urgently for an NCT. Anyone know where I can get one relatively quickly?
i bought one from VW heritage but seems to be for a different model. It doesn’t have the arm for bolting to the chassis and has a different connection.
i have attached a picture of the one I am looking for (the older looking one) and the one I bought (fresh one)

Thanks
Denis

What is wrong with your old one?

Some0ne had a how to rebuild your wiper motor but I can't find it .   had a link to it, but the computer was replaced.. I also can't remember where I had seen it, here or on the VW vortex.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I had just the same problem. It seems the original Mk1 motor is no longer available so you have to use the Nk2 type - which is what you have in your picture. I made a conversion loom for mine to adapt the old type connector to the new motor. The extra bracket that was fitted to the Mk1 motor isn't present on the new style motor but it doesn't seem to matter. The new style motor is much better than the old Mk1 - faster and probably more efficient electrically.

Re having no bracket, do you just have the motor hanging?

Also, re the connector, what did you do here exactly? Change it on the car or the motor? Easy job?

I'll take a picture of my motor setup tomorrow so you can see the wiring adaption and the mounting.

Attached is a pic of my Mk2 motor on my Mk1 Cabriolet. The 3 bolts seem to be adequate to mount it without the extra bracket. The wiring colours between the car loom and the new motor don't match up exactly, so I made a link cable up :- Red on the car loom to Green/Yellow on the motor, Brown to Brown, Green to Green, Blue to Black/Grey, White to Green/Black - can't recall the 5th wire as my handwritten page is torn!. image.jpeg
