1. '71 VW Beetle 1300 (great car, and ran on 2 star petrol…. man that makes me feel old…)
2. '79 rust 'n' horrible BL blue coloured rubber bumper MGB (with a red bonnet from the scrappy!)
3. '87 VW Polo 1300CL (sold with 140K on it, probably still going somewhere)
4. '84 Fiat Panda 1000L (I swear it was made of baked bean tins)
5. '94 Honda Accord 2.0 16v LS (boring, but great engine)
6. '90 VW Jetta GTi 16v (ultimate Q car - looked identical to the GX, but went like stink)
7. '98 LHD New Beetle (very cool at the time, but dismal failure as an import and sell on at a profit venture with a mate  ).
8. '99 Mk2 MX-5 10th Anniversary edition (one of my faves)
9. '92 Mk1 MX-5 SE
10. '83 Campaign Mk1 Golf Gti (current car)
Once finances improve though, I am hoping to make No.11 in the list one of these:
With Alfa V6 power it should have performance comparable to the original, and should make the perfect partner to the Mk1 (which of course I can never sell!!!!)

1981 Jetta Diesel Got me into VWs. Ran for 3 years.
1989 Peugeot 205 Diesel, 1st brand new car. Very expensive and basic. Good design but poorly built and dealers even worse.
1983 Mk1 Driver, ran for 5 years after getting rid of Peugeot.
1966 1300 Beetle, 1st hobby car
1990 MkII Driver, Ran for 5 years.
1977 Mini 1000, hobby car, turd brown and shows just how much fun can you have with 40bhp
1983 Mk1 Driver, hobby car, fettled and passed on to brother who still has it.
1982 MK1 GTI 1800, rebuilt from ?300 scrapper. Still got.
1997 Polo Diesel, expensive to service and failed all 3 MOTs I had it for, even though FVWSH, eventually gearbox went bang. Made me realise VWs after the 1980s are just another car.
2002 Renault Clio dCi. Current daily driver. In real terms cost probably half as much as the 205 did and has 10 times more bells and whistles.
1991 Caddy Diesel. Impulse buy from Ebay, turned out ok and to match description. All I need now is a Cabby and I will have the full set of MK1 derivatives!
In addition to the above there have been a couple of minis that came and went within weeks and various girlfriends motors that I drove, serviced and fixed (the cars that is, you understand)
1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

I bet type 17 will be in with a good chance, judgng by his golf collection.
Ironically, according to the rules of this competition, only two of my Golfs qualify, as none of the others were ever registered in my name with the DVLA!
They were:
'82 Mk1 1.3CL (my first car, still have her)
'83 Mk1 GTI Campaign (my second car, still have her)
All of the other Golfs are either registered in my name with Irish DVLA equivalent, or are still in the names of their last owners (not driving, so no need unless/until they become roadworthy again)
Do I get a prize for never having sold a car? - I still have my three daily drivers (the two Golfs above, and my current Audi 80 Avant)
PS: By the age of 21 I had owned 28 bicycles! (my passion before Golfs), and still had 6 of them (still have 3 now).
