Have you really locked my thread??????
bouchay said
So why was the original thread locked and not just moved to the general section, would have saved a huge argument and not offended sloww feelings toward us as a club.
I believe this to of been an oversight on the part of the mod concerned. I must however say that mods are only members who have committed some free time to help and can from time to time make mistakes, something in my opinion that's only human. Moreover far from opinion, is the fact that the thread has now been fully reinstated, albeit in a different forum, case surely closed.

when this subject came up before a few months ago as it always seems to I needed to make sure that the clubs current line was the right one.
The name of the this club started as the Campaign Register, By the founder of the Club, Drew. The club grew and it was decided to allow ALL Mk1 Golfs including Cabbys as the badge on the Back says "Golf", Now i know that in the USA the Golf is known as the Rabbit but the car is the same they came out the same steel press machines.
To make sure the clubs line on the jetta was the correct one i telephoned the Current Chairman of the Jetta Owners Club and got his point of view on the subject.
He was surprised and amused at anyone who solely owned a Jetta wanting to be an active member of a Golf Owners Club as Jetta Owners Are very proud and very defencive at the difference between the to cars In fact during our phone call i said as a joke " how do you upset a Jetta owner??
Ans = tell him its a Golf with a boot.
He agreed he hates it when folks say that, as as far as the Jetta owners Club is concerned the two cars The Golf and The Jetta are two separate cars as that's how VW wanted them to be otherwise it would have been called the Golf Saloon.
As for the comment about needing to go on a PR training coarse.
I feel my PR skills are not bad having made sure we didn't end up offending the Jetta owners club, I have worked to make sure both can exist separately but at the same time respecting the differences that both owners are proud exist between the two cars.
If you own a Golf but also own a Jetta then to show it in gen chat is fine same as if you had just bought a Split Screen camper etc and wanted to show it off.
I feel the argument about not wanting to be active on the jetta forum because not much happens isn't a good excuse to use this forum, the Jetta Owners Club will only ever be a good active site if you use it and not ignore it.
Please be proud you own a Jetta in the same way I'm proud of my Golf.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to use the forum for information and amusement whatever they own but they have to respect what this club is about and it says that very clearly in the title name of this Club…

Out of car terms you are putting it like this, going onto an ipod forum and going on about your mp3 player because it is similar.
No not at all, that would be more like if i was trying to put my ghia on here. If you want an ipod example, its a bit like and iphone and touch, the same thing, but one has a phone.
This is just getting way out of hand.
I appreciate all the work that goes into a forum, the pr comment i agreed with was because i havent felt so unwelcome since i met up with the Westfield owners club many years ago.
As i've said before, i only started this thread because i was so annoyed that my build thread had been locked and no you dont get notified.
A thread that MK1 Golf owners asked me to start. This seems to keep being over looked. It was some of the die hard mk1 golf fans that asked to see my car on here.
I'll happily put it on the jetta forum, but because this is a more active forum and my car is based more on a 3 door golf than anything else its the obvious place to come.
My jetta has, golf seats, golf dash, golf carpet, golf stering wheel, golf gear knob, golf brakes, golf fuel pump and senders, golf engine (albeit from a mk4 ), golf door trims, etc, etc.
I am a petrol head, i like all cars as can be seen from my collection. I'm not trying to post up anything other than my golf saloon.

How would you have handled a Big Block engine question being put in General Chat if you were a mod…. would you move it? Yes because it's not in the relevant section as per the rules… would you expect someone to tell you that you need PR lessons for doing it? Be honest…. no you wouldn't. We're here to try and help things run. If you don't like the reasons behind the rules then voice them as you are doing. Don't slate the mods for trying to keep things running smooth though mate. That's unfair.
You ARE welcome here as is everyone. It is however a mk1 golf site so by all means talk about anything you want… it'll just be moved to the relevant section. No one is stopping you talking about it or having a build thread mate.

So your saying because you have had a thread moved into general chat that the mods on the site need a PR lesson. This has made you feel unwelcome. Bit harsh I think as you are judging them for following the rules. That is like saying an usher at the cinema is lacking in PR skills because he shows you which seat to put yourself in :? . Fair enough if he swore at you and slapped you while doing it but for just doing their role…. your stance is unfair.
No one is stopping you talking about it or having a build thread mate.
That is the whole point, my build thread was locked.
As for the pr comment, i've said was a comment made by someone else that i agreed with, but it really doesnt matter.
I'm not interested in all the politics and any arguments, all i wanted to do was show like minded people my car as i had been asked to do.

I do not agree with the Jetta not being allowed on here but as our Club Chairman has said many times .
"NO CHANGE OF POLICY WHILST IM IN THE TOP SEAT I'm not falling out with the jetta Chairman no Jettas on this site he has my word"
Sorry but that's that .

I have moved s1oww's Jetta thread into Gen Chat and Unlocked it
so this thread now is redundant as the post is now unlocked
Thank you all for your comments but as stated before this is a Mk1 Golf Owners Site
and will continue to promote and encourage Mk1 Golf ownership.
