It's a great car. I remember Chudd being a 'bit' lary on the drive out at Coombe Abbey. As we were leaving he wheel spun down the driveway to the road!!!

I met up with Chudd yesterday morning, we were chatting about Coombe Abbey. He said his MK1 had about 200 bhp then, now it's about 220-230!

I still look in here on the odd occasion chaps ! Sold the Mk1 [my life changed during a difficult divorce] current project is a 2.5cc VW T5 we are converting in to a camper .

It will be chipped and have a huge turbo so will go like …….. plus you can sleep in it

A mixed bag of current and non posting members. 

Alright guys, glad to see this place is thriving and still growing  Just popped back as I got a random PM about 16V conversions.

Instead of growing up I appear to be regressing…now running a Turboed Mk1 MX5.

Well it's still got a 'MK1' in the title!! lol Any pics to share? I had one in the summer and thought it was a great car, such a good chassis

I sold my Helios campaign a few years ago to fund house renovations

Looking to get back into Gti ownership

Hi Dave,

You probably don't remember me but I bought your 83 GTI tin top off of you Y*** APJ, Started the resto a while back but it's still on going. I replaced the dog dented front panel and put new rear wheel arches on…. just need to extend the garage before I can carry on….

Alright Mike, yeah you bought it off me in 2005 I think? Good luck with it, great to see you're still keen  Loved that car, my first Mk1, had so much fun in it!

Ha, ha, it's 2018 and no I still haven't finished it! Hi Hairyarse , good to see you guys still around.

Long story shortish, not long after my last post on that thread, my partner and I bought a house and I got tied up working on that (still am), then a baby turned up and that and playing a lot in my band meant the GTI has sat untouched in my parents garage since about 2011. We also picked up a very nice Mk2 GTI from Ian at Wagenwheels, which has been a distraction. I finally brought the Mk1 back to mine end of last year (I now have a driveway) and that's where the car currently sits under a cover.

It actually doesn't need much more work before I can finish putting it back together, I've stuck the glass and sunroof back in. Will update that old thread when I get round to doing some more/taking some pics….
