polo 6n stereo wiring difficulties help needed

hi

usual case previous owner chopped the loom

its a 1998 polo 6n 1.4

i have wired in a stereo


ok so all seems well even memory works

but it only comes on every 3rd start of the car

wierd eh sometime ill turn the car on and it will make the sony beeping noises as if its just been turned off


any ideas

This would suggest an issue with the ignition source / switch.

I would start with a clean ignition source from the switch itself as well as a clean 12v from the switch. If you want a 'quick' solution then check the wiring for damage from using scotch-locks as these cause cables to break / corrode..

As an aside, why the hell do Sony insist on letting everyone in the neighnourhood know you have left the fascia on? A little bong would be enough, not the 140db beeps that go on forever, always hated that feature on Sony's
