82 restro - bonrath top mounts!!

Here are a few pics of my 1982 mk1 gti. Was being used as a daily hack about round south London and the city before i came to the rescue. These were taken at Timski's workshop where its undergoing a full respray and general tidy up.













Here are a few more pics after we had started to strip out. Tim and I reckon its the most solid shell ever!!  It only has the standard hole in the spare wheel well.









Plans are to keep the standard look of the car but i will be sorting the engine out for fast road use + a few other subtle mods :wink: !!

Will be keeping the wheels as you dont see them too often and they suit the car. They just need a re-furb and some new tyres old yoko's were well perished!!

Quicksilver is that your white/pearl mk1 at tim's if so it looks spot on.

Yeah that is mine just need to get around  to put her back on the road. Spent a fortune buying all new seals for her at Xmas and still gathering up other bits for her to get her roadworthy.

Going to take a little while to save up for the engine swap I have planned though

Nice one Steve - looking good. Can we still use her as a works car when she's finished?!

I guess I'm gonna have to get finally my own 'Project Golf' started again - see if I can't get her back on the road by the summer. I wish I could say mine was as clean as yours and that it'll be an easy ride to get her finished, but it's not .. and it won't be easy.

Damn Nigel for not letting me have this one when I first asked!

Lol,i`v actually got 3Gti`s on the go right now,the other one is to the left of the picture of the two Mk1`s .
The bodyshell to the right of the pic is next in line as i`v nearlly finished restoring it and i have lots more coming in,Busy Busy Busy!

As i`v had so many Mk1`s lately with dodgy repairs lurking under the paint i thought i `d strip Steve`s one back to original primer….
