Which suspension change?

Looking for some help with changing my suspension and interested to see what people are doing!
At the moment I have some really basic coilovers that have served their purpose well enough but the time has come for a softer setup, mostly due to age but as well as the terrible state of the roads around where I live!
As the car is a cabby gti it’s just used as weekend cruiser and will never do a track day so not after anything racy or sitting on the deck!
I would like a spring and damper setup ideally and nothing too low but a good quality kit.
If anyone is running springs and dampers with 15” wheels I would also like to know how low they are compared to my coilovers setup, something like measuring from the floor to the bottom of the waistline trim would be ideal so I can get a rough idea of how the car is going to sit.
Budget would be around £500 but happy to go a bit higher if the kit is better.
Thanks for any help

If you want a little lowering and slightly better handling you can switch out the factory springs for the Eibachs that Carl Jones suggested.
Next up price wise is the Koni Sports (again with the Eibach springs) which are adjustable.
or
Bilstien B12 kit which is B8 dampers with, you guessed it, the Eibachs again. A lot of people complain that these are too stiff, so I doubt they are what you are looking for.
or
Entry level coil overs. Again, probably not what you are looking for.

I have a very budget set of coilovers on at the moment and they are just too harsh.
I might have a problem with putting springs and dampers on though as I have 15” x 8” et10 alloys on which might foul the springs when turning.
Might have to bite the bullet and get the KW V1,s which my brother has on his T5 Transporter which do have good damping and are not too harsh over the bumps!
Cheers for all the advice though

I have bilstiens on the back and some coilers on the front but when I jacked up the front the other day the springs rattled free so pretty no damping what so ever..
I think Ill be going for comfort over looks! Something else to add to the shopping list!
