Not that difficult really hardest part is holding the rod whilst you cut the thread.

Mark the same length on the mk3 servo - from memory, this is just a bit higher of where the taper starts - which does make it easier to get the thread cutting started.
Then cut the thread to about the same length as the existing servo, thread the clevis thingy back on - job done!
This doesn't cover a mk3 servo, but may be useful to look at (if you haven't already).
