Pierburg 1B Carb autochoke issues

Post

Another one of these posts. I've got the awkward pierburg 1b with autochoke.

It seems when I go out to the car, the choke is fully open. If I press the accelerator pedal once with the car off, the choke will move onto a step and put the choke valve half closed.

I can then start the car and let the auto choke warm up. Once it's warm, it releases the choke step from earlier, but the choke doesn't move back to the open position until I press the pedal again.

Should there be a spring that causes it to step on/off automatically, or do I need to press the pedal as the car starts/warms up to release the autochoke?
