Is the warm up regulator the same on a 1.6 gti as it is on a 1.8 gti?

Just after abit of advice
My warm up regulator is playing up and im on the hunt for a replacement one alls i can seem to find is 1.8 gti warm up regulators does anyone know if they are the same on a 1.8 as the 1.6

Physically they are the same, but they have slightly different control pressure settings, so you might find the engine would run richer from cold and a little too lean when hot.
Look here for the pressures that should be set - Volkswagen Workshop Service and Repair Manuals > Golf Mk1 > Power unit | K-Jetronic/Ignition system | Mixture preparation system, mechanical injection | K-jetronic injection system | Checking warm-up valve
The good news is that the pressures can be adjusted by drifting the spigot post inside it in or out - you would need a pressure gauge to check it after though.
A better solution is to get a 16v or Audi 5 cylinder one as they had a screw adjustment ( once the brass cap was opened) allowing fine tuning of the control pressure. It also has a vacuum control that gives a fuel boost with sharp acceleration.
