Gti gravity feed tank

Post

Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer,

I will be fitting a 1.8t into my Mk1

It was originally a 1.5 carb car

I am planning on just one 044 pump

I have a gti gravity feed tank (heritage non gen)

It's a non baffled tank but does have a swirl chamber and the return line feeds directly to the swirl chamber as well

Can I just add the 044 directly to the tank output or will it struggle to pull enough fuel through

Or will adding a swirl pot from the tank and add the pump after that

I'm really hoping I don't have to add a lift pump as I have already modified my sender unit to work with the mk4 fuel gauge

Cheers all

fit it all up and see how you go. some have foudn the pattern gti tanks cause fuel starvation on cornerign so be preparted to have to mount a pot and a pre-supply pump somewhere. a wee facet or similar underneath would do the job, coul;d hook it to the gti outlet on the side and put them both where the fuel accumulator used to go. iirc the facet can get hot so be sure to space them apart a bit

I was thinking about how well a gravity feed into something like this - https://www.performancebyie.com/ie-submerged-044-billet-surge-tank

To help against starvation

I wouldn't rely on gravity feed, as I say put a wee carb electric pump such as a facet or whatever to keep it topped up :)
