Golf clipper cabrio cutting out when warm

Hi Please help, I have a golf cabrio which has the dreaded cutting out issue, drives fine until warm then loses acceleration (oil light flashes and battery light comes on) pull over and wait for 5 minutes and it will restart and go for another 2 miles then the same again. The fuel lines have been replaced/filler neck checked/new fuel pump/new coil/ immobiliser disconnected/new dizzy and rotor arm fitted.

I think it might be carb icing please can someone help as I'm losing the will!!

Also tank has been cleaned out and breather pipe from sender has been checked and it's clear

If the oil light and battery light comes on I would guess it's something electical, is there a lot of keys hanging from the ignition key? Try giving it a wobble when the engine running.

Hi I tried that and the ignition completely cuts off (no oil light/battery light), once it cuts out it takes approx between 2-5 minutes to restart and go again, all that time it is turning off but feels like lack of fuel. Trying to narrow it down and was wondering could it be a fuel pump relay?

Carb cars don't have a fuel pump relay as it's a fuel pump running from the engine not an electrical one in the fuel injection cars.

If your car is cutting out while waggling the keys the ignition switch may be worn and need replacing. (threads on this site about this)

If your car has a webber carb you could try restricting the fuel return as you can get problems with to much fuel being returned to the fuel tank and not enough getting to the engine. You can try to remove the fuel return pipe and cap it off as you don't want fuel pumping out onto a hot exhaust manifold! see if that is better then restrict the fuel line with a welding tip or similar.

Thanks will try and restrict the return on the weber, don't think it's an ignition fault as the lights all come on before it stalls, if it was ignition I would expect steering lock and loss of lights on the dash 

for a styart your warm air pipe is missing, get that sorted. if you dont have the shroud roudn the exhaust manifold that wont help either! I jubilee clipped a smaller sized mk2 gti one onto my driver manifold as the 2 studs sheared off, problem solved

Is that fuel hose you are using going to the fuel filter, the clear pipe?
also a good idea to use fuel hose jubilee clips as the standard ones can squash just one side of the pipe and can cause a leak and you don't want fuel leaking any where near a hot exhaust manifold or you may have a big BBQ!

Thanks for the responses I will sort out the clips this week, the new hoses (not garden   ) were fitted by previous owner as they cleaned out tank etc. will also look into shroud as I haven't got one on mine.
