Fuel Lines

Hi all

I purchased a 1988 Clipper a few weeks back and have been going through all the bits and pieces i need to replace, it runs "ok" but has a few oil leaks which ill sort in due course.

My main question is regarding the vaporiser / fuel lines. It seems to be bypassing the fuel vaporiser completely ? It still has the return line connected but thats it.

I ordered a replacement vaporiser but it dosent fit, the air box bracket fouls on the inlet on the top of it. As i said the car runs ok but it seems to use ALOT of fuel. Should i leave it like it? or connect it back up to standard?

I see a few vacuum lines that are disconnected that need either to be fixed or capped off.  An open vacuum port or line is a Vacuum leak to the system, and that can cause a myriad of Idle and fuel consumption issues.  My
Toyota that had a Carb, would get terrible mileage, and rough idle when one of the vac lines enlarged at the port connection and by-pass air.  Same on my Cabriolets.

Fix those or return them to OEM, and then see how it goes before you start to adjust your carb or timing, as you will be inducing more issues that you start chasing your tail over…and over…and over.
