Does anyone know of alternative exhaust hangers other than the ones pictured below. Apart from them not lasting very long they seem to pull the exhaust up tight which I feel maybe causing excess vibration as the exhaust is solid and has no room to move
Thanks

The central box may have hook type mounts which use part number 191253147B, similar to the ones in your picture.
In regards to lifespan, I'm guessing aftermarket quality varies. The original on mine is still going strong on the original centre box after 32 years, though I have recently bought a genuine replacement from VW. The original rears were hanging a bit low so I replaced them with the "oe quality" version available from VW Classic Parts:

191253147B seems to be indicated for most engines, including JB. 171253147 (which supersedes to 8A0253147A, now obsolete) also appears on the list, but not allocated to any particular engine
