Bad cold start, smokey and strong smell of petrol!

Hi all.
Could anyone give me advice on my 1.8 8v fuel injection running rich problem. Basically when it's started from cold it runs awe ful and is very smokey and smells really rich! When the car warms up it runs completely fine and the smoke and smell goes! Does anybody have an idea of what I need to change or adjust on the injection system to fix the problem? I replaced the spark plugs and thought I'd share a picture of what they look like! Thanks. image.jpeg

Off the top of my head it looks and sounds like the warm up regulator sensor is giving you problems. Not absolutely certain. The sensor has two wires (plug) going to it  right next to the temperature sender on the "thermostat" housing ….Maybe checking for a live and an earth on the plug ? Possibly a resistance reading across the sensor ??

OK had another think about this when I had nothing else to do. The sensor I'm "on" about has nothing to do with the warm up regulator … That works separately. Try disconnecting the "fifth" injector (cold start injector) and see if that makes any difference ? The sensor times the length of time the "fifth" injector sprays additional fuel …
