Main beam warning light on dash - 1992 Golf Cabriolet

Main beam warning indicator light on the dash is only working intermittently. It comes on when the car first starts but goes off once the car has been running for say 10 a 15 minutes. Anyone else experienced this. Cannot track down the problem and will have an MOT failure if I can't fix it.
Have changed the indicator stalk but this hasn't made any difference.

I'd have a look at the earthing for the instrument cluster.

Anything else a bit odd or not working?

Is it now then?

Mine past an mot in October and doesn't have a working one
