Electric window what's wrong?

Evening all I have an issue with my passenger side window, it's stuck down. When I press the switch down I hear a click but it doesn't move, press up and no click at all. I took the door card off checked there was power going to the motor and seemed ok but it's not budging. Any ideas on the fault and how can I get it up manually for now? Many thanks Paul

Does the other side work? yes/no.
Have you Verified at the motor that you have 12V and ground at the 2 pins when the switch is depressed?

Putting 12V at the motor connector is the only way to move the motor and regulator.

Sounds as if a wire in the space between the "A" pillar door and the door frame is broken.

The Controller switches the ground for the power at the
controller to raise the motor or lower it, that is the beauty of the 12V DC system, reverse polarity on a motor and it spins backwards. This way only 2 wires are needed for the motor to operate either up or down.

So you aren't getting the polarity which in my case was a broken wire at the door.  (this was because the controller worked the drivers door.) The controller if bad won't raise or lower either usually, so I am betting on a broken loom where it goes from the "a" pillar through the rubber boot to the door.

When repairing the break, I use about 10 to 12 inches of good stranded wire I pull the boot off the door and the frame.

Holding the bad wire from retracting inside the "A" pillar with a pair of hemostats,  I cut and strip the wire about 1 inch.  I solder the good wire to the old, then heat shrink over it.   I force this new joint back in to the "a" pillar so it is only bending the new wire.  Then I do the same for the door side…. should of done a how do I do that…when I had it happen to me.

Now if your rain drains are kept clear and clean you can get water migration that drips right on the controller and ruins it.
