Rear fog, brake lights and reversing lights!

Hi all

After some fairly urgent help if you could (MOT on Wednesday!)

Got 3 issues that are causing me a lot of headaches:

Rear Foglight
Does not light - checked bulb, where to go next? Noticed the switch has 3 spades on it but only 2 are connected on my car - is this correct?

Brake lights
No lights, tried disconnecting the sensors one at a time and still no lights.

Next I tried and putting a Wire in between the two spades on each (separately!) (shorting the connection?) still no lights - where to go now?

Reversing Light
Weird one, the VW switch that was in meant the reversing light was on all the time, thought this meant that the switch had packed up - so replaced it, new switch now means the reversing light is off, problem is that this is also when actually in reverse! Any ideas??

Thanks for any advice
Adam

Rear tail/brake lights inop, usually are.
Corrosion in the sockets, bad grounds to the lamps and or bad brake light switch on either the MC or Pedal Assembly depending on year oh and the fuse or bulbs are bad.

Fog light could be that it is a after market install and that your previous owner has used a generic switch so two pins are the contacts and the other is usually a lamp voltage…. shouldn't be an issue if when you throw the switch it lights the lamp.

Reversing light could be an adjustment.  see www.brokevw.com  he has all different switches for the reversing lamps.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
