Cannot find any good wiring diagrams easy to understand

I have a Golf Mk1,1983, 07, Code EM

I have searched everywhere for a wiring diagram but no luck. The thing is that the previous owners of the car, have modified everything, cutting cables and jointing together cables with different colours , stealing current from different places. So what i really need is a wiring diagram showing the colours of each cable, and where they go.

Example: The Brown-Blue wire for the horn, goes to pin 71 at steering weel pin is cut, and jointed together with a Black cable, that goes to a 2-connector at the front of the car (left side from driver seat count), with a blue cableconnector, and from there a Red cable which i cannot locate where it goes, there are also cut cables at the left side of the front-lights, one Black-Yellow together with a Brown. No horn installed in the car, also the horn relay was missing.

I must fix everything before the yearly car-control and i am running out of time.

Hi all,
I have purchased a Mk1 Golf Convertible (Converted in Australia) and am starting to restore it.
I am looking for a wiring diagram and fuse-box details, but haven't found anything suitable online.
The fuse-box looks like:

if its a really early one some of the pinouts can differ but see how you go, the plug in the front of J isnt something I've seen before, first glance looks like blower motor wire colours?

Finished restoring the fuse box.
Yes, I do believe the J connector is for the blower fan! [UPDATE: No, I don't think so anymore. Probably High-headlights switch.]
Will be mapping it out soon and will post any discrepancies I find.

does/did it have a/c? if so that may be why the difference

I have the full brown haynes and have scanned a fair few of the diagrams so lmk how you get on with it

I don't believe it ever had A/C.

The J-plug , I currently suspect, is for high-headlight. It goes to the DIP SW. Maybe I'll try a changeover relay instead? "Why not", he says?
I'll use a regular relay for K (Headlights).
Not sure if I have intermittent wipers, but I have a very rusted special relay for M, so I assume so. Pin M26 doesn't even have a hole in the plastic!
N is for the Indicator/Hazard lights flasher -mine doesn't use the 4th pin, N25!

I've mapped out the fuse-box and 99% of the wiring, with the help of the "ceramic" wiring guide ;)
Very few differences! My documentation is substantial!

The H connector is straight forward:
-There's an instrument cluster warning light feed (unfused, hanging off the H7 (B+) to G1 link).
Well, B+ doesn't have a fuse-link, either!!!
-H7 is the supply feed for the Ignition Switch.

I am sorting out the spade (G connector) feeds/source, so I can get the temp gauge, warning lamps, etc working.
G1&6   - connected through Fuse15 for the radiator fan.
G2        - washer feed. It ends abruptly, terminated with an OEM connector, just past the firewall.
G3        - live with Ignition ON inc. while/whilst? cranking.
G4        - live with park/side-lights. (with fuse12).
G5        - alternator light (to confirm becomes live). Comes on cluster, yay!
G7        -  live with Ignition ON, but not cranking.
G8&10 - Headlights (to be determined). O_o
G9        - Blue/black cable to cluster. Oil pressure warning, I believe.

A Red/black cable is cut near the battery. You may know the one: Goes through the driver's-side firewall grommet, through a 3pin connector, becomes green. Goes through a 1pin connector (still green), through another 1pin connector (also terminating another green cable that goes to the White [A] fuse/distribution connector), becoming red at the cluster. I forget what it's connected to at the cluster  :o
Guess I map out the cluster wiring after sleepy time. It's 0230!  :dry:

I have a black-cabled female spade coming from the instrument cluster (High headlights & Indicator Warning), but don't know which G position is may go to??
Any details on the G connector, please? As in, what cable colours go there? :ninja:

P.S.:
I don't seem to have found any Ignition Switch ACC (Accessory) circuits, YET ;)
There seem to be 2 brake failure switches; one for the rear and 1 for fronts. There are 3 OEM spade-terminated cables close by! Gotta work that out!

I've mapped out G and H in my faq, plus the cluster pins though the very early cluster might differ slightly keep wits about you ;)

The later fusebox cars don't use many of the G it's mostly for accessories, if there's no wire colour it's not used for the main stuff. so the washer and light pins would be for headlight washers, X live is for rear wiper relay that kind of thing.

I'll dig out my Haynes scans at some point and have a look through, been meaning to map out the early stuff for ages just not got round to it

Hi guys..  hope you don't mind me jumping on this a little late (3month late) 
I also have the early 1979 fusebox with the ceramic fuses..  
I am really struggling for power to the wires that attach to the reversing light switch and my Horn is pathetic if anything at all although every so often it shows signs of life..

Could you recommend a starting point. If the fusebox where would you aim for?  
All earths clean and connections inter the bonnet have been cleaned..

Any help much appreciated

Grounds for the reverse lamps are at the light in the rear. Power comes from the fuse F9, through the Transmission switch, I would check F9 with a meter, then look at the reverse switch on the tranny.  

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
