Concourse sill pictures

So someone has done a bit of a bodeg job on replacing the sills on my 83 GTI which are now rusting through. The bottom edge of the sills is a bit of a mess where I assume that there would originally have been spot welds along what looks like three panels (inner, outer sill and floor pan - have I got that right?). It looks like they've taken the panel with most material and have bent that up and around the other two which has then become and awesome moisture trap.

Can anyone give me some pictures of what the sills should look like please? Just want to know what I should be aiming for the end result to look like.

Thanks yomp, I vaguely remember having looked at some spectacular sills at ultimate dubs a couple of years ago but now that I just have a mess to look at in the garage I can't remember for the life of me what made the ud sills so amazing. That pic helps thanks, I suppose it snore of a functional area than one that's designed to be aesthetically pleasing.
