Radiator cards

Post

Hi

Looking for a definitive, clear answer, and if possible pictures.

I'm have NOS radiator cards for
My 1.3 GF engine and looking to get them fitted soon. Checked all over the web, and although there are several discussions, I am no further forward in figuring out in how to fit them.

Any help appreciated

Can you post pics of the cards so I can see how different they are to the big block ones?
If they are similar I can probably dig out some pics that may help.

Posting the year is a lot easier for some of us over othe other side of the pond, as we didn't have as many choices of engines/transmissions that y'all have.

In my days of running a 80 diesel, as well as a plethora of late 80-90 Cabriolets, most of the later Cabbies had all of the radiator cards removed, and I only went back with the upper card.

In my experience with driving the things I have found that the only one really required is the upper one over the top of the radiator between the shroud and the front radiator support.

I have also found that the Cabriolet mounts at the top are far superior to the Side bolt Radiator with the "C"clip and bushing that my 81 had which I ditched for a SS zip tie after having to replace the radiator in my 81 after 20014 miles for tank to core split/leak with the plastic/aluminum radiators for a Brass and copper one.

On my last 2 cabriolets I opted for a solid aluminum after market radiator…more pricey, but not plastic.

Why only the upper card you ask?  Because it prevents the Engine compartment air from recirculating over the core at a stop raising the temp of the coolant.  When you are driving the air flow is mainly rammed air over the matrix and you rarely see the fan come on until stop as you may see your radiator spike after a run.

Yes. They clip on to the front Valance the screw goes thru the card to hold it tight.

But like I said the top is the most critical.

http://www.cabby-info.com/cooling.htm has templates at the bottom for all of them.
