Is my engine going to die?

its a 1.3 GF and more problem keep coming up! there plenty of blue smoke from the exhaust, the car wont idle below 1000rpm no matter what i do with the idle and mixture screw, sometimes the idle needle just waves all over the place and every now an then the oil buzzer comes on.
Am i losing compression due to worn piston rings of is the headgasket on its way out or something like that?
this is the first week the car is on the road in about a year.

any help will be apperciated

blue smoke –> burning oil. Might not be the piston rings, it could be the valve stem seals. Does it smoke more when you lift off the throttle at high speed? If so, its valve stem seals. If it smokes more on acceleration, then its rings.

A compression test would reveal.

If you can't get the idle speed down, its likely a carb fault, not an engine fault. Do them things have a coarse throttle adjustment?

Head gasket failure - once again, compression test is needed to prove this. One way of determining if a cylinder isn't working (if its blown the head gasket between cylinders, then an adjacent pair won't work) is to pull off ignition leads while its running. No change on engine note/revs means that cylinder wasn't firing. But that can be due to other things than head gasket.
